It all started with the birth of ONE (yes one) character, by the name of Drizzt Do'Urden. If you know NOTHING of Drizzt, here's a quick lesson:
Drizzt's is a CG drow who rebelled against the ways of the drow and fled to the surface, where he tried to make a living amongst the surface but he was mostly greeted by hate and eventually he was able to get friends and all that good stuff.
Just click here if you wish to know more. Anyway, after Drizzt came along, the stories go that suddenly millions of CG drow rangers came around. There were even jokes about the whole of drow society being compiled of angst-ridden rebel children. Now, I've never spoken to that many PnP players (or played PnP myself), but from what I understand, people have grown to have a complete hatred for playing drow, since they usually end up becoming CG rangers.
That aside, I can see the balancing issue, but I have enough faith in Obsidian that they wont completely mess up with it.
Kythras: This is moreso opinion, but from my point of view, Zak seemed to be CN with CG tendencies, and Jarlaxle was CN with CE tendencies. He was manipulative, but still had a sense of honor.

, well said, well said... btw Deus Ex owns...JCDenton wrote:Well, the point is that, the possibility for a Drow to suddenly emerge from the Underdark to be cool and start som fraggin` for no appearent reason, can be compared to the possibility of a Vampiric Illithid suddenly appear and take a drink at a local Waterdeep tavern (before giving the barkeeper a kiss with his tentacle-head and start blasting everybody with psionics)

Just a note to add, I don't know how NWN 2 will work, but in DND-
-Drow are most definitely overdone, but can be quite useful if played as a unique character rather than Drizzt Knockoff. However that does not mean that there cannot be "Good" drow. It's the Drizzt Clones that tick people off, not the heroic goody goody drow.
-Spell Resistance is subjectable just as a save is, in DND, you can choose not to resist the spell, it's not automatic.
-There is already a form of Lesser Drow, it's called a half Drow, the other half being human.
And just my opinions on the races they should add-
-Agreed about the tiefling/Aasimar thing, as well as the sleugh of Genasi, those are definitely prevelant in FR. I think though, that they should only include races from the core handbook and not other books of FR like Races of Faerun and other supplemental's.
While I do not know a lot of the history of drow, as for purposes of DND 3.5 rules, I have quite extensive knowledge of statistics, abilities, and special qualities and how they work.
