So I had a fun Idea for a protagonist...

But he reeks a bit...

I'll import a character from BG1 that started out as a mage and dualled at level 2 or maybe 3 to fighter. Then in BG2 I'll make him a wildmage. Only spell he'll ever use in BG2 will be Nahals Reckless Dweomer. That way he can cast spells in his book even though he's way too low a level to cast them otherwise. And I can scribe any scrolls provided he has the intelligence. Of course spells that are level dependant will be completely useless but lot's of spells aren't.

I'll give him five points in Staves and two in Two-handed weapons early on and then the next points in a misile weapon I haven't decided. I want him to use the Staff of the Magi and probably another staff too. One that causes more raw damage...

Somethings I'd like to know though.

1: Spells from items, except scrolls, are never level dependant right?
2: And I won't get Wildsurges from them either?
3: How about from casting spells from scrolls?

I suppose I'll find out about this stuff soon enough.

Now I'll just have to form a party around him. Any suggestions?

This character will be highly chaotic. In fact I'd make him CN aligned if it wasn't that I want the Call Upon Holy Might special ability.

BTW this game makes me want to start over all the time. It's a wonder I've ever finished the bloody thing... In that way it's similar to Wizardry 8 for me...

A Wild Mage can't dual-class. Sorry dude.

But a Wizard (or specialist) 2/Fighter X can use Wands while armored.

I considered for a while a Wizard 2/ClericX who would wear the Robes of Vecna.

I'm sorry but you're wrong there. He can if you import him.

You can only create that class combination using Shadowkeeper. A Wild Mage cannot be dual classed.

Besides, Wild Mages, hands down, are the most powerful class in the game, if you're counting all the bugs and cheeses that is.

I repeat: That's is not true. I just tried it out. If I import a character I can pick wildmage as the original class.

It may be against the rules but the game lets me do it. And besides I already know he's a bit cheesy. I just thought this way would be more fun than a pure one.

Do you know the bug that lets you cast spells without delay or limit, meaning that you NEVER run out of spells?

That makes the wild mage godly.
