Mac - characters stop walking???

I have the mac version of the game, with the latest patch which is supposed to stop the stuttering when the characters are walking. But some times it still does it. Help!!

When do they start their stuttering? Does it happen in the beginning of the game or after a certain event? Very minor spoilers: (i.e., I used to get the infamous stutter-step after Viconia and Jaheira started bickering and after my party transformed during a certain stage of the game.)
