Tactical advice needed for a Stalker

Post by Klorox »

I'm giving Valygar a try for the first serious time. Any and all tips are welcome!

Use the best leather armor you can find (such as Shadow Dragon Scale or White Dragon Scale) .

Let him use weapons that are useable by Thieves so he can backstab. In the original game, Valygar's own katana does not have a Thief flag, so it cannot be used as a backstabbing weapon, but I think there are some mods that fix that problem (or you can edit the item file yourself if you know how). Celestial Fury is a great choice for him.

Use his Druid spells as much as you can. Doom stacks with Greater Malison and Glitterdust, and Armor of Faith stacks with Hardiness. That's pretty awesome when you think about it. A few minor healing spells can also come in handy, and so can Find Traps if you send Valygar scouting to a place where your Thief hasn't been. Call Lightning isn't very useful because of timing problems (and how often do you fight outdoor battles?), but it's fun to play with sometimes, like if you want to toy with the enemies you meet in the Druid Grove. I can't remember for certain whether I have ever had him or his fellow Ranger Minsc cast Summon Insects against enemy spellcasters, but I think I have.
