Companion NPC quest questions
My party consist of the following
Me = NG Mage
Aerie
Jaheira
Minsc
Yoshimo
Nalia
I have just freed Nalia from Isaea Roenall. I am done with her, quest wise? I'd like to get another NPC for his/her quest. Besides Jaheira's cursed quest are any of the other NPC Quests timed? Which NPC quests are simple and which are more involved?
I'd like to keep Aerie(romance), Jaheira(romance), Minsc(tank), and Yoshimo(chief thief).

I am a bit hesitant to answer that question in full, I might spoil a bit of fun for you. I can, however, give you a very general answer.
Jan: Willl trigger a quest, which has a timer.
Korgan: Idem.
Anomen: Idem.
Edwin: You will find him during a quest.
Cernd: Idem.
Haer Dalis: Idem.
Mazzy: Idem.
Keldorn: Idem. (a tough quest, let me warn you!)
Viconia: not really.
Valygar: Found during a quest, and will trigger one.
Aerie: She will trigger a quest closely related to one of the other NPC's on this list. You're not obligated to do it, though.
Jaheira: Will trigger multiple quest, so to say. The depth of them also depends on whether or not you're romancing her.
I don't believe the rest of your party will trigger any quests, unless it's entwined with the main story.

You get the ability to have Haer'dalis in your party as the result of a quest, not the other way around.Pellinore wrote:I think just about everybody but Minsc has some sort of quest attached to them. Maybe not H'D...never used him.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I assume there is no quest associated with Viconia.
You should probably pick up a fighter type as your party appears to be light on tanks.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.
The following have NPC quests which don't involve much (additional) action. From a personal perspective, you might think their situations are poignant, so their quests might add depth to their character, but that's about it.
Jan (he has to take care of a problem involving a family member)
Keldorn (purely personal drama)
Cernd (purely personal drama)
Anomen (purely personal drama, but it has more personal consequences than most)
Mazzy (she has to take care of a problem involving a family member)
The following NPCs are involved in quests that you can finish without them. In other words, you can pick them up while you're doing a quest you'd already be doing anyway:
Haer Dalis (go the basement of the Five Flagons Inn before you do anything else, and make sure you're ready for one of the most dangerous quests in the game)
Edwin (his presence adds an extra encounter to an area you would probably visit even without him, and he gets involved in a little side project that doesn't require you to do anything but watch the results)
Valygar (you can dismiss him as soon as he opens the Planar Sphere for you)
Aerie (once you rescue her, only the romance remains)
The following NPCs are involved in brief quests:
Korgan (his quest isn't very difficult)
Viconia (once you rescue her, only the romance remains)
That leaves Jaheira, whose presence in your group opens the way to a fairly extensive subplot.
@Sytze: By the way, "ditto" is more commonly used in English conversation that "Ibid.", which is mainly used in bibliographies for research papers.

The Unfinished Businees mod over at PPG restores many things left out of the orginal game including cut NPC quests.
The current version features a quest for Minsc - the kidnapping of Boo butat present there is a bug that makes it unplayable (its being fixed for the next version) and I beleive work is also currently underway on Viconia/Haer'Dalis/Cernd quests that were dropped.

Thank you one and all for the great info.
In what chapter can you no longer get NPC/NPC quests and sidequest? I assume it would be the same chapter that you could no longer complete NPC quests and sidequest?

Since I have done the Nalia quest I will base my question off of her. I found her quest fairly simple and straight forward. What was semi complicated is the aftermath. If you are not a Fighter Barbarian Monk character. Do any of the other NPC quests have fallout that you have deal with, once you complete their quest?VonDondu wrote:*snip*
