Patch Questions

Post by VelvetVelour »

Hi Guys!!

Ok, Theres a couple of things i wanted to ask about patches, considering that the 1.2 patch i downloaded for Vampire Masquerade is the first patch ive ever used.. Ok.. here we go.. lol.. heads up by the way, im a noob.. so apologies in advance

1. Im currently downloaded Patch 2.9 and 3.0.. how do i .. activate them once ive downloaded them?

and

2. Is there a patch that can fix a problem im having the the beginning.. its not a major thing, but right when the sheriff is about to cut the head off my sire, it glitches and u can hear the sound of the sword coming down, but all you see is the sheriffs sword raised, then it cuts to v.v looking away. I dont know if its supposed to be like that or if its a glitch.. But if theres a way to fix that, could you tell me :D ?

Replys would be greatly appreciated.. I shall send my love to those who help me out ;) :P

All you have to do is install them according to directions, and they are active. No special processing necessary. One caveat, though. Once you've patched the game, start a new one. Don't try to patch the game and resume play. All kinds of weird things can happen, from what I hear.

That has happened from the beginning of time - don't worry about it. I've always written it off to the ancient practice of a headsman to test his axe on a pumpkin or watermelon to be sure it was sharp before he actually cut off the victims's head. I assume they simply never got the graphics in place in time for release, and as it has no effect on play, nobody has ever fixed it.

Wait!
You are not spose to install two different Unofficial patches you only need the newest. ;)
So to recap Install the game, install the Official 1.2 patch and then add the newest Unofficial Patch [currently] 3.0.

When a new Unofficial Patch is released install the newest one only if you are going to start a new game.
This is because you can get really weird bugs by installing the newest Unofficial Patch and trying to contine on an older Savegame.
I may work but it's better not to try it, especially if your a n00b at using the4 console to fix broken quest. :D

If I might suggest you read maybe the first couple of paragraphs in the Unofficial Patch readme, especially the Tips and Trick. ;)
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

you don't have a non-english version do you? i heard Troika did this on purpose in order to get a better rating from the European censors.

Ahhh. Treacherous ground. Actually, in this context, you probably do have a non-english version, oddly enough. Not because you're not English - vast apologies and no insult intended. Rather it is more the result of an arrogance on the part of North American developers that make an English version that would more accurately be called a North American English version. We here in Canada are considered English in this context, oddly, while our cousins in England and Australia are, strangely, not considered English.

Yeah, I know. "What the heck?!?" Trust me, it blows my mind, too. It's as if the American concept of 'English' cannot cross an ocean - no offense to the Americans, either.

Jeez, why is everybody so darned touchy?

I'm not really familiar with all of the legalese folderol, but I think it has less to do with politics than law. Over here, the rules and regulations between Canada and the USA are pretty much in line, and interchangeable across the border. Being the longest undefended border in the world, we do a lot of business with each other, and things are more or less aligned to facilitate that business. However, once one starts shipping across the Atlantic or Pacific, the R&Rs change quite drastically. England's rules are more inclined to facilitate dealings with the French, being as how they are a short swim away, while North America is a fair to middling boat trip away.

Similarly, I would expect that the Australian R&Rs would tend to be geared to facilitate dealings with south-east Asian countries and Oceanea, being the closest available trading partners.

So, in short, you probably got cast the lot of 'non-English' VTMB not so much as from being non-English, as from being non-North-American.
