Can't get into Ulm

Post by Lin »

I finished the Trial of Elders, got the letter, but can't get in Ulm. The guards who usually let you in attack me. Any thoughts? I talked to everyone else in Arindale again to be sure. The quest is in my log, the letter in my inv.

Good thinking, tried that. Did'nt work. Says is Castle is locked.

I when back to a prior save, before Trial of Elders, and when to Ulm. The guards did the exact same thing. Did I mess up my stealing the Elven Sprit Shield and Sprit Bow during the trial??? Anyone?

Taking those items shouldn't affect the guards.

I remember somebody else posting this problem a long time ago, but I don't think a solution was ever found. This just seems to be a rare bug in the game.

When you approach the Ulm guards, do they appear as purple dots on the map or do they appear as red dots on the map? When do they become hostile toward your character? Do they rush you before you even get to the bridge? Or do they become hostile when your talk to them? Or do they become hostile when you go past them (towards the door)?

Do you even get a chance to talk to them before they come at you?

*I keep multiple backup folders of my character's save files at different intervals as a precaution for things like this...as I sometimes use all 5 save slots and run into trouble. (5 save slots per character).

ewh...bummer. :( Your using version 1.4, is that right, Lin? I've never had a problem with the guards at Ulm with CE's version...and I've played thru that event with over a dozen different characters.

Maybe its just best to forget about that character, and just start over with some new kind of character. Or just take a break from the game entirely.

I'm using CE, I did start a new char. I'm back about to start Trial of Elders. I checked the guards a while back and all was well.
