Hello Folks
I have recently started playing Oblivion again, after having been disappointed at first. I have now started from scratch with Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (OOO), and I must say it made the difference between 'playable' and 'not playable'. But anyway, every time I come across curious things in the game I am not sure whether it is a standard or an OOO feature. I am now about level 7 and I have found a strange artefact in a Aleyid ruin. It had an Aleyid name I can not reproduce at the moment. After some investigation I came to the conclusion that it must be an arrow. It's listed price was 1000 gold. So it must be a good one, right? Its description read something like 'Dark welkynd discharge on strike'. I kept it in a drawer in my home on the waterfront in the Imperial city, until I found out I was unable to pass the Vampire matriarch in the ceremonial burial cave near the Imperial City in the 'Order of the virtious blood' quest, where you have to kill Seridur. I walked back to my home to fetch that special arrow, ran back into the cave and aimed it at miss Matriarch while in sneak mode. I noticed the tip of the arrow was a red glowing stone or something. The lady dropped like a fly, after indeed having suffered from some kind of discharge. Beautiful! But can anyone explain what happened? What is a dark welkynd discharge?
Greetings,
M.

I also have Oblivion with OOO, but I haven't come across such arrow. And I haven't had any troubles with slaying vampires what ever the kind was.
Do you use magical weapon? (The possibility of vampire matriarch being immune to normal weapons.)
And could you try to find out where you found that arrow?

That vampire matriarch was especially troublesome. The vampiric mages and sorcerors gave met the most trouble, conjuring big golums between them and me. It would take only two or three golum hits for me to die. So I used a special bow, which I had been able to make using the capstone from the Kvatch oblivion gate. It granted a 5 seconds silence to all bow shots. Using this bow to shut up the magic users helped a lot. But it did not help with the matriarch. Somehow she still could cast spells. Maybe she resisted the silence spells? I could not survive her summoned creates and her peppering me with shock or frost and moving like crazy.
I can not recall exactly where I found the arrow, but I think it was lying in a room where Alyeid bodies where set into the wall. It was in the first Alyeid ruin I cleared, but I can't remember where it was.
In the mean time, I have found out some more about the arrow. It seems it is part of the Ayleid Meteoric Iron Weapon mod, which in turn is part of OOO 1.3. I have even found a picture of the arrow, here.
I still don't know what a dark welkynd discharge is. Maybe I should read more books. I'm a long way from having read all of them.
