Crash at start-up

Post by Berry1986 »

Howdy,

I just bought the game when I found it after a long while of searching through shops, since there don't seem to be that many copies over here. I did play it before when the game was new on another PC. It had troubles running properly then because it was a rather old and sluggish PC. Now I have a PC that plays about anything on high settings, such as Oblivion and the like.

However, after having installed the game and started it up for the first time. I selected new game, it showed the loading screen and then.. bang! Back to windows.

On any start-up after this event it doesn't even get past the loading screen of the start-up and immediately gives a windows crash/fault message. So now I can't even get in the main screen or anything. (not that I was able to actually play the game after the install)

This is the first part of the crash log it made in the folder,

Anyone's had any similar experiences and has gotten a solution? It would help a lot, because even though the game was cheap it doesn't mean I don't want to play it!

I seemed to have solved the problem.

I downloaded some Python program mentioned in another thread on this board and installed it. But that didn't quite do it yet.. (or so it seemed).
Then on another board someone mentioned that beside the Python I'd also have to get the no-cd crack of version 1.2

So, I did that and voila, it is now working.
Well, I'm at least glad to be able to start 'borrowing' blood from 'willing' victims.
