Thieves Stronghold Question

Other then needing Yoshimo to start Renal's Stonghold quest. Do you need Yoshimo to do or finish the thieves stronghold quest?

You do not need Yoshimo to start the quest nor do you need him to finish this quest.

I would still start the quest with him because later when I wanted to take him to Brynnlaw, we went with him to the docks to go to Aran and even though I had finished the Thief quests long ago, he updated my journal with the quest. The end result was that I had a Journal entry that stayed there for the rest of my game. very annoying
