Decision Trouble

Post by Jordoo »

Having a problem filling the last slot in my party.

PC Fighter/Illusionist Chaotic Evil
Korgan
Viconia
Edwin
Jan (Until I get Imoen)
????

Need a secound divine caster which basically boiles down to Jahiera, Anomon or Cernd.

Anomon may be the best fit. Will level up fast and can be a great tank. But I can't stand his personality.

Jaheria slower leveling but would get druid spells and also can be a good front liner with certain sheild/spell combo's.

Cernd not too much experiance with him. I heard there is some problem with the power of the werewolf form in the vanilla game is that true?

Also will either Jaheria or Viconia Romance a Gnome? (Prefer Viconia)

Just looking for opinions before I form up the Team.

Thanks
:) Once again time to give someone the boot to make room for Coran. LOL :)

Have you considered Aerie (mage/cleric)?
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.

She never lasts long in a group with Korgan he usually battes her into a fight to the death which he wins.

If you ask me you don't really need an additional divine caster. I'd just go with what you have. Oh an aldo there's probably not going to be any romance if that means anything to you. Viconia doesn't like short fellas. You could just change the main character to a half-elf fighter/mage or a human fighter dualled to mage instead. Then Viconia would like you.

I agree with Onkel Bob; if you have viconia you don't need any more cleric power. I had her once and by the end of SoA, and all of throne of bhaal, she had more spells than I could use between rests. give Aerie a try, she stops whining halfway through the romance and has enough clerical power for my taste. she is a good arcane support caster, and becomes quite dealy by the time your finishing SoA.

if you want another team mate and still want to keep viconia this narrows the choice to one of the druids, they have some nice spells you can get by without but nice spells all the same.

edit: I've never had Korgan and Aire argueing ?? maybe the conflict turns off because of the romance ?? this time around I've had Korgan say something mean to her, I told him to leave her alone and there has been no trouble since. And this was a long time ago now

I have the Happy Patch installed to prevent that event from happening.

I like what Aerie offers to the party since she is a cleric/mage. I have Viconia and Imoen in my party but it is nice to have Aerie backing them up.

I don't want to intsall the happy party mod so Airie is out. I have had her in some other parties anyway. (Very Usefull)

I wonder if Jahiera would romance me. I could do all her quests and then give her the boot after all that would be an evil thing to do.lol

Can't change my mane Character because I already ran him through BGI and Tails. So I am atached to the little guy plus he has great stats and hit points.

I am leaning toward no one or Jaheria if she can be dubbed into falling for an Evil Gnome.

I think with a gnome you're left with Aerie. Possibly unless there's some mod out there I don't know of.

Thanks Bob.
Guess I'll just use that spot to do other NPC Quests untill I get Imoen And then Keep Jan until I get you know who in TOB.

Guess Airie would probably romance anyone who could listen to her blaber and comfort her for any length of time.LOL

There is a mod that allows anyone to have a romance and another mod that allows for simultaneous romances.

If you're thinking about recruiting an NPC you're not excited enough about to have chosen already, then my guess is that you will under-utilize that character instead of using all of his or her abilities. If that's the case, then you're better off playing without them.

The main thing you're missing is tanking ability, so save the spot for Sarevok or take Haer'Dalis.

Depends on how you play. If he plays the game anything like I do he has plenty tanks. Two high quality tanks will take you through the game. Besides Viconia can double as a tank when in trouble.

I am not too worried about Tanking
Korgan
PC
Viconia

I think VonDondu is right I'll just leave that slot open until I get Imoen and then see where I want to go from there.

Thanks everyone

Personally it would have to be very deep trouble before I let Viconia anywhere near the frontline.

Give Viconia the belt of fortitude and the guantlets of ogre power.

Belt will give her 18 con for 8 hours a pop. Heavy armor spell protections and magical resistance she does very well.

but those gaunlets are needed for Crom which is one of the uber weapons, I also would never let viconia into the front line

If Viconia is your tank, you're in trouble. She deserves to be treated like a mage with cleric spells, IMO.

That being said, I'd add either Jaheira (she's an awesome tank, and gets Summon Fire Elemental pretty quickly), or Mazzy. Mazzy makes an AWESOME frontliner (I currently have her dual-weilding an axe, eventually the Axe of Unyeilding, and Crom Faeyr -- you just need to grab her early as she gains levels quickly and you want to assign those proficiency slots where you want them). Mazzy also has great dialogues with Korgan... you'll laugh a whole lot!

Viconia would never be my main tank but I usually use her as a third or forth tank if needed and she does well in that role obviously she is casting spells at the beginning of every confrontation. Also keep a sancuary spell in one of her slots just in case things get ruff.LOL

She could always use Crom herself once constructed. I don't always cunstruct it anyway since you lose the guantlets and the belt.
