You left out the choice of me being the one who started it. How unthoughtful of you.

Meh, I would probably join it, since if WW3 begins, it probably would affect everybody nevetheless where they live and did they want to join it or not...

So, better to die while defending your country than just sitting at home, hoping that nothing happens to you and you get killed by bomb...

Dunno - depends on how it was fought (Nuclear war, then I can run around with a rifle all I want to, I'd still get nuked :D ), what caused it, who is involved (simply because it is a world war, does not mean every country is active in it), and where the main theater of battle takes place (I can't be bothered to travel very far :o ).

Since I have issues even with the basic concept of national states, I can't really see the point. The only thing that is certain in war is that everybody looses, except maybe a few really rich people who win fiscally in the very short term. Besides, I think an all out nuclear war could make the world a better place... eventually... but probably not for humans ;) It's the same with all this "save the world" BS - the world will do just fine. It has been much worse polluted in the past and still managed to repopulate itself with plant and animal life (sometimes in as little as a few million years or so), so it's not really much to worry about. What you should be saying is "Save our own behinds before it's too late".

That depends... The army won't have me :p

I'd rather try to stay alive and await WW4 and then join the fighting - With Sticks! :D

A chance to get killed, tortured or starve/freeze to death because of what will likely be a petty squabble started by old white men so I can defend a piece of land surrounded by imaginary lines? Deal of the freaking century; sign me up!

edit: war is fun and exciting it's like playing with plastic swords just even funner and more exciting i can't wait to kill people oh man

I wouldn't fight. I can't think of any reasonable motivation to start a WW3 so whoever did it and for what reasons would most likely be in disagreement with my political and moral views. Thus, I would take the opportunity to stay peacefully in my bunker and take up my painting and piano playing again. ;)

Now, I'm not much of an agressive guy, but I'm somewhat surprised by your arguments. I mean, if there is an agressor (or more) it should be handy if there'd be a few nations able to field a force to put them down (like the filthy dogs they are! Die! *ahem*). In the name of peace, security, and not being oppressed? And possibly killed/becoming ill or being irradiated and then dying.

I wouldn't join the army, I think, but I could be up for a political/diplomatic effort.

I keep hearing this but I can't for the life of me figure out why. Does it count for all countries?

How do you know? Ever done it?

There's nothing noble about war. It's filthy and savage. It isn't a game, and it's not something you can walk away from. Think: a traffic accident, with two drivers dead. Now, multiply that by several hundred thousand cars. All driven by people deliberately trying to kill the person in front of them. Now, you have a war.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Having seen war/combat/the results, I agree completely with Fable's statement here. There's nothing noble about war. But being the gun-toting, violent urban redneck  that I am, I have to say that I would definetly go to war if the cause was there. Causes change. Last time I went to war was because of the misguided idea that it would make a difference and do some good out there amongst the "smashing cars."
If I go to war now it would be because I/me/mine was attacked. I'm a stricktly defensive person, so it would have to be an attack "right in my living room," so to speak. And

World War 3? Bah! If you look at the rules for what is supposedly a World War, I think it's already here, and has been for some time. ;)

Meh, I wouldn't worry. The only way Scottland would be involved in another world war was through a missfire against England. Which, could be happening soon at a village near you if England keeps pace with my country.

If there will ever be a WW3 I'll come over to Scotland and help you salvage all the really old whisky. If I'm lucky, I'll die happy. Actually, even if I'm unlucky, I'd die happy.

As for WW3 - and all other wars for that matter - I leave you with a quote from a silly hollywood movie:

Strange game. The only way to win is not to play.

by a whacko talking computer in the film War Games. Now the movie is pretty pathetic (even though I did see it around two dozen times when I was 15), but the message is sound.
