What is the "GameSpy Arcade" program for?

Post by Klorox »

... and can I safely remove it?

I know it showed up when I installed BG, but I don't know what it's for. I'd like it off of my computer, if it won't harm my BG2 games.

TIA

Online multiplayer games.

I'm looking at my "Add/Remove Program" list, and it says I used this program last today.

I never play online or in multiplayer games. You sure it's okay to just get rid of it?

TIA

I too have never installed it either.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.

I'm assuming you played BG, or another game that uses GameSpy Arcade? Because if you don't use it but have it installed, it will send a brief signal to that site whenever you run the game--whether you go multiplayer, or not.

It's nothing bad really. It's about the only way to play the Black Isle games online with the exception of TCP/IP.

It will not harm your game if you uninstall it.
