Best assasins equipment
Hi guys
I'm playing the game as an assasin and would just like to know if any of you know what the best assasin equipment available is (and how to obtain it).
I'm currently still using the shrouded armor set from the dark brotherhood (mainly because it looks so cool and sneaky, but it does offer nice bonuses as well). It would be nice to get my hands on some new stuff though...
Just post whatever you can think of, weapons as well.
Thx!
Don Frederik sends his regards...

If you finish the Dark Brotherhood quests and become the rank of Listener, you are given a Black Hand Hood and Robe, which have similar enchantments to the Shrouded armour but better. In my opinion, they look much better than the Shrouded armour
As for a weapon, I usually have a daedric weapon with a simple enchantment such as fire, frost or shock damage.

I agree, the best assassin armour is the black hand robes...now once you beat the DB questline you get an upgraded blade of woe which is REALLY deadly , I mean it murders people!!!!!!:mischief:
Now I also advise that you invest in an enchanted bow , an assassin is never complete without a good bow!
Happy hunting!

Never Underestimate a vampire
If you are able to enchant items, then I would suggest getting some good light armor, elvish or glass, and then enchant it with chameleon. If you can get your total chameleon up to or over 100%, it's the same as being invisible (I think it's even better, personally) and your sneak skill will start to go through the roof if it is not already.
I know that the DB armor has other benefits, but you can enchant the other parts of your armor with any of those benefits you feel you are missing. I'm not bad mouthing the DB armor/hood combo, but if you are wearing that, you are fully clothed. I prefer the option of enchanting a hood/helmet, cuirass, greaves, gauntles, and boots. I just feel that I can get more out of enchanting five pieces of armor than wearing two "pre-enchanted" items, mostly because there's always an effect that I would not have chosen, or something is missing that I really want.
Anyway, to make a long story short (I know, WAY too late!) I would stop looking for teh best the game has ready for you and go make your ouw custom job. It is simply more satisfying.

sorry if your question has been completely answered but i use the black hand robes with the gray cowl of nocturnal.
When it's dark or when i'm in a dark area i can walk in front of someone and they wont' notice me.
in broad daylight...
i can pull it off from a distance but not up close.

Why am I fighting to live, if I'm just living to fight? Why am I trying to see, when there aint nothing in sight? Why am I trying to give, when no one gives me a try? Why am I dying to live, if I'm just living to die?
I totally agree that having chaeleon armor over 100% is a game breaker. If you are a person who enjoys that kind of thing though...it's AWESOME! I mean, you can walk around and bump into people and push them and they don't even seem to notice. What's more, you can get into sneak mode and hit them for the steath bonus. The best thing about it is that they pull their weapon, look around, and then put their weapon back. They still don't see you! You can walk around with impunity because nobody is going to pull a weapon on you. I walked past an oblivion gate that had opened up near some minor fort and I walked right through the battle unseen. I'd kill a few oblivion creatures and they couldn't see me either.
Of course, there were two times that the chameleon did not hold up. I was trying to assassinate someone and they were standing next to a legionaire. I hit the legionaire on accident and, even though he didn't see me or fight me or arrest me, I suddenly had a bounty of 1000 on my head. Also, when I tried to pick the pockets of a shopkeep who's shop I'd let myself into after hours, the chameleon didn't hold.
Anyway, that chameleon armor is, IMO, the best armor an assassin can have if he doesn't mind having an insanely unfair advantage in the game.

Assassin outfitter anonymous *** SPOILERS ***

Actually, I would go the opposite way. Get your sneak up to 100 using the DB armor, and once there, then get some high-grade armor. I go light, so I went for Glass. The reason being that once your sneak is 100, the armor no longer affects your sneaking, so you can upgrade. Glass, because the DB armor is light, too, so your light armor skill should be fairly good by then.
Then, don't enchant it right off. Get your Armorer skill up to Journeyman first, and then enchant your gear. You can't fix your own enchanted gear until you're a Journeyman Armorer. The Arena is a good place to get your armor beat up good, as well as practicing Block.
Now, enchantments for Chameleon 100% could be really handy, but by now you should have picked up a few items that will help you along. I have 2 rings and a necklace that collectively stack to 70% that I found (well, technically looted). That's handy, because you can carry them with you and use as needed. If your enchant skill is high enough that you can make rings and a necklace that will stack enchant to 100%, that's the better way to go. If not, if you have rings and necklaces like mine, enchant only a few things to give you that extra 30%.
Also, don't be too strict about your enchantments. Get a couple of complete sets of Glass/Daedric/Whatever and mix and match your enchantments. Then, you can go to your house (which you should have by now), and before each foray, pick and choose what enchantments you want to take with you. If you don't think you will need Chameleon, you can leave your Chameleon armor items behind and still take the accessories. If you get stuck, 70% is still pretty good.
Feel free to get totally crazy with enchanted rings and necklaces of various kinds. They're very light and you can carry lots of them with you. Then you can customize your enchantments on the fly depending on the situation you find yourself in. Versatility is, after all, the hallmark of a good Assassin, and a major convenience for thieves, too. I know of some Assassins who are cool with taking life, but they balk at taking stuff. Phooey. After the DB quests, Thieve's guild is second on the list. Once you're the Listener, there ain't much money left in the Assassin Biz, and everybody's gotta eat, right?
So much for apparrel. Next, weaponry. One long blade, one short blade, both one-handed, and a shield. And get the best you can find. After Journeyman Armorer, start enchanting them, too. Eventually, your blades will be effective against weapon-resistant creatures. That's good. Keep those ones.
You're an Assassin, so bow up, please, and get good at it. Always carry some good plain arrows and some arrows that will be effective against weapon-resistant creatures. Stockpile all of your arrows, even the junk Iron ones. Sometimes, you're going up against a pack of goblins. No point in wasting good arrows there. Take iron. But always pack a quiver of at least silver. You don't want to get caught in a nest of vampires with your quiver down, so to speak.
Don't be too proud to get a horse, but if I were you I'd hold out for Shadowmere. An Assassin has to be able to get around, after all, and Shadowmere is the baddest horse in the forest. She's also easy to pick out of a herd in the stables. There is only one horse with red eyes who is invulnerable.
Once done the Thieve's Guild, carry the Cowl with you at all times, but only use it when you must. It's very handy for illegal activities, because any infamy or bounty goes to the Cowl of Nocturnal, not you. You can whip it out, kill the entire town, put it away, and you're just another guy, the miraculous survivor of the slaughter.
Tadaaah! The perfect Assassin. Invincible, Invulnerable, Invisible. Able to leap tall grass in a single bound!
Don't get precious about other guilds, either. Become the Arch-Mage, head of the Fighter's guild, and everything else you can become. The more the merrier.
Oh, and off the twerp. For free. Just because he's annoying. You'll know him when you see him.
