Ive defeated the snakelady and saved shandra, then I go back to the inn and talk to the uncleguy and then I suppose I should talk with shandra again? But when I try to talk to her Bishop says "are we done here yet?" indicating that the game still thinks im in the cave.
If I leave the flaggon and go back inside Shandra is gone, and cant be found at her farm either, talking to the fosterfather in west harbour didnt help either and I got nothing im supposed to do in the journal, except small quests!
Am I missing something or is it buggy? I also had problems with not being able to talk to captain Tann to recieve quest rewards but that wasnt gamebreaking so I just ignored it.
Cannot continue.. (chapter 1 spoilers)
Have you guys patched your game? It sounds like you have cut scenes that haven't triggered properly. The only thing I can suggest is that you replay the sequence and hope things work out better the second time.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

I didnt patch before I played. I tried reloading 45 minutes earlier in my journey (into the beginning of that cave) but that didnt work. Now I have patched the game fully I think to 1.02, and I tried loading a game where I was just in the ending of that dungeon, but no dice
I have fully restarted a new similar character now but daamn its boring to do all these dungeons again, its just painful going through the first marsh dungeon again, lol..
And the worst thing is I dont even know if the same bug is gonna hit me again when I get to saving shandra, if it does ill snap and punch my fist into the monitor
But the measures ive taken now are following: fully updated, skipped the tutorial and completely new game. I would still wager there is about a 35% chance that ill experience bugs again though.

I think you all put way too much importance on patching your game. I've played through twice not and not encountered a single flaw such as these. Sure i've found bugs, but not such as yours.
Not to mention, I have absolutely no idea what you mean by the snake lady. If I recall, you go to shandras farm, she tells you about the ruins, you meet Slaan and choose your path from there. If you choose to help, you go inside and kill undead, and rescue his peeps. If you kill him, no idea.
Later, upon returning to the farm she is being chased by the gith. You kill a group outside of the home, and then go inside. Talk to her inside of the room she runs into, kill some more, talk to her again, and they burn the place down. You then get outside of her home, and she pretty much tells you to piss off, and that she is going her own way. You sorta stand there for a second, and then see her being chased by some more gith. You kill them, and then talk to her while she is hudling down nearbye.
You are taken back to the flagon I think afterwards, and then she is in your group.
The game is pretty strict about the events that must happen in order for other things to happen. If you by chance screwed up a quest involved, missed something minute, or refuse to pick the correct dialogue option, the game gets confused and doesn't know how to proceed.
Just my 2 coppers.

"Unfortunally" you can't put to much importance on patching a game. Bugs appear all the time, and because you did not have gamestopping bugs does not mean countless others would not experience them because as bugs goes, they can be sporadic between installments as well as due to specific choices in games.m0rb1d wrote:I think you all put way too much importance on patching your game. Patches, amongst other things, fix bugs - fixed bugs is better then no fixed bugs, thus patches are better then no patches. Sure new bugs can be implemented as well, but .....
So if you experience strange game-behaviour, first step of debugging will always be to run the latest software, and that goes generally for both games as well as normal software.
Also if it is an issue which have been adressed in a patch, then patching will fix it, and the person asking questions has been helped.
There is no reason not to patch.
Insert signature here.
There are plenty of reasons not to patch. However, that's not really the point. If you look over the patch notes, there is nothing to do with the problem. There is a mention to shandras farm, but the instance is a ways after this problem.
I concede that it usually does not *hurt* to patch, but, it's my opinion, that if the patch does not fix a problem I am having, then I see no need to patch. If there was something about performance increases, or, making it so that the dialogue is cleaned up some, or that doing something, or the lackthereof that the game did not fully intend would not longer screw it up at points, then sure, again, why not patch.
But in this instance, the issue isn't covered. Sort of like having reinforced windows put into your house for no better reason than *just incase*. Works for some, doesn't for others. I wont eat your breakfast for patching if you dont need to.

Well I tried loading a savegame with my original character when I was at the village of embers, I read that another person with the same problem did that and then it worked for him.
Sooo after an hour or something of going through the cave again I encounter same bug as before. Not much of a surprise. Im not going to make a new character either, im just gonna put the game on ice for some weeks and see if they made a good patch! A patch which ofcourse specificly fixes this.
All this + the bugs in titan quest and the bad framerate on all new pc games (not this nwn2 though) kinda makes me want to buy gaming consoles instead, too bad those rarely have games with ANY depth
