Hmmm

well it says it requires gargoyle and a suit of magic armor of total AC:3

As to patches, I just got platinum and assumed recent patches would be included. Not so?
Other then focus crystals, these are the recipies for the Grinder in Drogans house, that I've been able to find:

2 fenberries and a bottle yields a barkskin potion
Tisha's practice sword and a quartz crystal yields a Tinomen greatsword (magical, but can't remember the stats).
Quartz crystal and the spores from the farmhouse yields a ring of disease immunity.
Quartz crystal and the heart of the Shadow Hart yields a Amulet of Lesser Health. (immune to poison or something, but aren't sure)
Has anyone else made some useful items in the grinder ?
I feel this area need further exploration, and i wouldn't be surprised if there's an easter egg hidden here...

I've tried lots of stuff but haven't come up with anything yet. :(

Mull.

I would think at least the Great Sword one could count as an easter egg :D
I've not seen references to other items made in the grinder, then the listed ones.

Since Barun Silverblade will enhance +1 enchanted items for 10000-30000GP, but only produce items that are worth a few thousand, I'm presuming that it would be stupid to make the weapons just to sell them (Like what I did in chap 1 with the dwarf) ?

This is very useful, and thoughtful of you to share!
Does anybody know what iron is for?
Thanks

Iron (IIRC) belongs to the crafting skills that came with the game in the expansions.

Bars of Mithral is also used for crafting items.
I've never crafted in NwN so I can't tell you what excat use it has, but it is connected with crafting. Higher quality items most likely.

the diamond is in a trapped chest in the lowest basement level of the tavern in the docks - in the pirates' hq area, not in the tavern itself.

More crafting supplies can be found in chapter 2 Charwood, in Karlats tower.
Ironwood, firebeetle belly, slaads tongue (the place teems with slaads  )
Search all nooks and crannies, sometimes a good item also shows up!.

Not sure if they exactly count as weapons, but as a wizard ( sorcerer too, maybe ), it's a good idea to collect skeleton bones ( not the knuckles, the large bones that look like femurs ). If you've taken the 'Craft Wand' skill, you can create bone wands, which are a god's end for a wizard. You can store any spell up to Lvl. 5 in those wands, for a certain sum of money and a few experience points.

That way, you can store up to 43 spells ( that's the most I ever had - 43 x Ice Storm in one wand ) of one kind in one wand and assign it to your quickbar.

forged items..

hey.. i was just wondering whether the forged items which you make in chap 1 can automatically be upgraded in chap 3 by the smith.. what i mean is.. suppose.. you forge an astral blade +1 in chap 1.. can you automatically upgrade it to an astral blade +3 by placing it on the forge in chap 3?.. or do you have to get the individual components again and forge the sword anew.. thanks.. :)

No - you need to provide new components and forge the new sword.
