Bards as backup mages

Post by Klorox »

Can a Bard be an effective backup mage (I'm thinking of having Imoen as my main spellchucker, and Haer'Dalis as my backup)?

I know in PnP, Bards couldn't cast higher than 6th level spells. What's the limit in Baldur's Gate 2?

TIA

In Baldur's Gate II the spell limit is also at the sixth level. They can serve as backup mages depending on what spells you want to useas for anything higher than level 6 you'll have to cast from scrolls.

You could use Haer'Dalis as a back-up mage. He'd be far more effective, however, if you'd use his magical talents to improve his fighting skills.

I've tried a bard and got him half tway through SoA....... he really was'nt my cup of tea so I abandoned him. but IIRC his magic is best used to buff himself
