Bugs?

Post by Shine »

Thanks to all who have been helpful with my newbie efforts

Came across a couple of weirdnesses today:
After dual-classing Imoen at level 5, she doesn't seem to be gaining anything as mage. I've got her at level 3 mage now but she only has two spell slots, although she knows lots of spells and her HP don't change when her levels do. Is this supposed to happen? I thought only her Thief bits get stalled while her dual class levels up.

In the mines Xan refused to talk to me. The first time I took out the bad guy (forgot his name), Xan got in the way (well, actually, my merry band of adventurers walked into the wrong room) and got nuked. I reloaded and tried again, figuring that there ought to be some points for rescuing him, even if I don't have him join up. However, I was unable to talk to him. Branwen tried various dispel magic or remove paralysis spells but nothing worked. Is there a reason why no one can talk to him? Clicking on him with the dialogue cursor does nothing (doesn't even cause characters to walk up to him) Is this a bug?

IIRC, a level 3 mage should be able to memorize & cast 2 1st-level spells, and 1 2nd level spell, per day. Remember that wands & extra scrolls (i.e. scrolls of spells already copied into her spellbook) used from her quick-item slots will greatly expand her arsenal.

Imoen will start to gain 1-4 HPs (and +2 HP for her CON bonus) per level, as per a normal mage, when she hits mage-level-6 (i.e. one level higher than her thief level), in addition to having her thief abilities reactivated.

With Xan, he may only be talkable after Chapter 3 is triggered. Check out the recently deceased cleric's chests and belongings, and then try talking to Xan.
Why is it that whenever I finally get around to playing a new game for the first time,
I feel like playing Baldur's Gate for the second time...
