Profile Settings, help.

Post by Acleacius »

I have a problem with posts being set automaticly as Read/Looked at, even though I haven't read the post.

I have never like this but didn't know it was a feature either available in Profile or default/forced setting by GB.
Until I noticed on a new board I visited the post I have never read/ looked at, stay UnRead i.e. still highlighted in the forum.

Could someone tell me how to turn this off or if this is a force feature by GB, please stop. :)
If this is obvious in the Profile settings and I missed it, I surely will be <embaressed> :D

Thanks. :)
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

If I read your post correct, then I think you are out of luck as there is nothing to do about it. It is a cookie "issue".
If you do not leave the forum, then no unread post should be marked as read (and if they do it sounds more like a browser issue), but if you leave the board to return - unread posts at leaving time will most likely be updated as read on return. When you access the board, it will "remember" the time you visited so that when you return only newer posts shows as unread, meaning new from your last visit.
This issue can also occur if you use tabs/new windows as that can fool the forum software to thinking you are leaving/returning and thus update the list.

I don't think there is an option do to what you request (I've not seen one anyways)

Xandax is right. The forum only highlights the posts that have been added since your last visit. There is no option that I'm aware of to highlight unread posts on a post-by-post basis. I would think such an option would be very resource intensive anyway, as the forum would constantly be keeping track of the unread posts for 30,000+ members.

Ok, thanks. :)
I will ask how they do it.
