Dual wield melee rogue build needed

Post by De_Priester »

So seeing as Neeshka bugs the living daylights out of me I want to try my own rogue. I always liked dualwielding swords and as for stealth well I never actually found the patience for it seeing as I like to charge into the battle

Anyway no stealth needed but seeing as he will be my main character, I need a charismatic, trap detecting and disarming, dual wielding, can take/dodge a beating rogue that can keep me roleplaying and having fun.

So any suggestions?

For the record I tried making a rogue multiple times but I never actually came past a few levels and I have no idea how to make one

Is there a prestigeclass I could go for?

You might try reading this thread.

So I might want a fighter/rogue multiclass? Or is dualclass better?

Suggestions? (any prestigeclass bound to this?)

Thanks carter, good suggestion!

You may try this

Drow
Str: 16 (+4 on Lvlup)
Dex: 16 (+1 on Lvlup for Impr. TWF)
Con: 12
Int: 14
Wis: 8
Cha: 14

Rogue 3 (4)
Ranger 4 (3)
Black Guard 4
Assassin 9

Feats: Pwr. Attack, Cleave, Gr. Cleave, Impr. TWF, WF (Weapon of your Choice (Short Sword)), Divine Power, ... (Toughness and TWF for free)

Skills: Tumble, Disarm Device, Hide, Sneak, UMD, Search, Dipl.

I would try a ranger(11)/rouge(9) as a start. Wood elf or human probably. Maxed out str, some dex (no more bonuses than your choice of armor can handle +4 for chain shirt if I recall correctly or try mithral forged medium armor), rest on con.
The main reason of the ranger is if you specialize on dual weapon style, you get all three levels for free, and do not have to have 19 dex, which is imho rather useless anyway.
Probably you should wield short swords or kukris, actually the same weapon in your both hands, since you will not have enough feats to get focus/imp. crit/power crit for different weapons.
Or go brutal with a half orc :)

For this build the +1 attack of your off hand given by ranger(11) is crucial, since you have 5d6 sneak attack, and if you tank with one of your party member, it matters really.

ranger/assassin is perhabs a much better choice of this type of character based on the fact that assassins gains HIPS at lvl 8 assassin, throws in a few extra spells, death attack 5d6, gives a cool RP perspective IMO ;) and is perfectly suited for duel wielding really.

This is really a personal favorite assassin type build. The ranger really becomes complimented by the lethalness of the assassin.

That sounds cool, what would you take for half orc ranger stats at creation?

With 9 levels as a rogue will I be able to open and disarm all traps and locks in the game? The whole idea behind this is to be rid of Neeshka since she kinda bugs the living daylights out of me...

As long as you alternate your classes, you won't have any problem with traps and locks.
