So i've had this game for a long time. I made it to downtown when my hard drive went bad and lost everything. I finally came back and reloaded it many months later. Both characters i had were Nosferatu. Really the only clan i would think of playing. Something just really appeals to me about them. Thanks to this forum and website, i was able to overcome all the obstacles presented to me.
I specced exclusively in melee and unarmed wich worked out just fine. Didn't do every single side quest, but did 90% at least. I really enjoyed the story wich i find to be the weakest point in most of the rpg's i play. Have been a white wolf fan for a while and liked the heck out of this game. One thing however, this is the most bugged game i have ever seen! It's ridiculous how much crap is wrong with this thing.
I seriously just finished like, 5 minutes ago, and the first thing i thought was,"when is the sequel?" Also, are they gonna make a Werewolf game? I would buy that in 2 seconds if they did. It really surprises me that they haven't thought about a MMORPG in the world of darkness realm. If they can do it with the comparatively weak Warcraft backstory, then White Wolf would have no problem bringing the stories they have into the virtual arena. I don't know...i just see too much potential to be putting out products like this forever. Nice story, bad bugs.
thanks for reading, and let me know if you've heard anything about new games!
Just finished the game...Finally!!!*no spoilers*
Werewolves, wolves and all other kind of wolves are the most silliest things in the world, and how can you say that Warcrafts backstory is weak and lame? It's not a ****ing child show like the **** you mention (I don't play World of Warcraft).stewpac wrote:So i've had this game for a long time. My, my, isn't somebody grouchy today. The silliest things in the world are humans. If you don't play Warcraft, how can you have an opinion on it? And don't be cussin' on this here radio. (Read the rules). Stay on topic. Thanks.DarthZ wrote:Werewolves, wolves and all other kind of wolves are the most silliest things in the world, and how can you say that Warcrafts backstory is weak and lame? There will never be a sequel. Troika, the company that developed the game, went bankrupt is now out of business. White Wolf has pretty much closed the book on Vampire: The Masquerade as well. No one will ever be licensed to make another game in the Masquerade setting.
However... There may exist the possibility of future games based on Vampire: Requiem. I know very little about Requeim other than that the rules are very different from the Masqeurade rules.

I don't know how long you say you've been a fan of white wolf's games, but if you honestly are you should realise quite quickly that the depth of interaction, politics, back stabbing and role playing that makes white wolf beautiful would translate horridly into a MMPORPG, where it would eventualy boil down to repeditivie quests to "gain exp", people running around the street jumping and bouncing about naked and getting into Werewolf vs Vampire vs Wraith fights in the middle of crowded areas, then whispering you with "WTF n00b" when you mentioned that maybe this was against the grain of the concept of "Secret hidden world of the night". After all, it's tough to keep vampires a secret when "VampBob" is running around screaming "VLAH VLAH, BLOOD!" and using Dread Gaze on everything that moves cos he thinks the screaming sound effect is funny.
Werewolf is a horrid, boring, hack and slash fest on paper, so no doubt it would translate into a multi-million dollar computer flop quite easily, much in the vein of "Hunter, The Reckoning" who's plot and depth was displayed to the general public in the shockingly average PS2 game of the same name. Interesting to note that the Hunter The Reckoning computer game can be played with perfection while watching the screen of someone playing "Underworld"... Not that I'm suggesting anything. Oh wait... Maybe I was. Look, we'll get someone to clear that up, you'll hear from a lawyer soon.
Warcrafts plot makes a FANTASIC read, is very indepth, and while Blizzard chose to change it from time to time to help administer to the players requests, it remains quite a suprisingly indepth little bit of work that has kept WoW still the most popular MMORPG to date despite franchises more popular like "Star Wars" having their own one. But I'm guessing you didn't really look into it before you made your claim... Else you'd prolly still be reading.
As Anaximander already pointed out, V:TM is history now, and so is the company Troika, so sequals aren't likley. I'd really hate to see a Requiem video game, as I suspect it would do the same dis-service to the Vampire original storyline, concept and image that "Vampire: Redemption" did, with our Brujah "Hero" hacking and chopping his way through thousands of older Cammerilla vampires to recive quest items that made very little sense and hopefuly pick up some +5 full plate... Maybe he could get a Ring Of Protection +2 and a Vorpal Long Sword as well. Poor Vampire players, it took some of us months of anger managment to get over the fact that White Wolf had translated their poltical thriller of personal horror into that. Never mind, the doctor says I'm better now... When I tell him too.

Do you really think that Werewolf is such a bad game? I quite liked the idea of playing a Werewolf, and the background story they developed for this game is also quite fascinating in my opinion. With the possibility to travel into the ghost world by using a reflecting surface...just a great feature, I think.pennypincher wrote: Werewolf is a horrid, boring, hack and slash fest on paper, so no doubt it would translate into a multi-million dollar computer flop quite easily
I would say that the story of Werewolf is quite as dense as the one of Vampire, so I could also imagine a game in the style of Bloodlines. Basically, Bloodlines is also mainly about fighting, the interaction is far to limited as far as I'm concerned...doesn't really pay to play a Ventrue or a Toreador.
But supposedly there won't be any more games in the World of Darkness...at least not any more good games.

Fair enough, I'll conced that werewolf has an okay story line... Okay at best thou. It's poorly thought out and shockingly implemented, with the end result being "You are 9 feet of muscle and claws, you kill things cos the world is dying and the beast of death, war and disease is rising... But you kill things for good, so that doesn't count as death or war... Now KILL THAT THING!"K.Rush wrote:Do you really think that Werewolf is such a bad game? The story has possibility to open up and become fantastic, and the Umbra was a wounderful idea... Sadly they then just packed the world with bad things which you have no choice but to kill and a society that says "Kill those things or we'll kill you for not killing them"... And Bob's your uncle, you're stuck in a story that's more like a N64 platformer, where you have to figure out a way to reach the "end of level boss" and then roll dice for 40 mins while you and your friends slowly claw him to death, if you havent pause to claw out your own eyes and beg to play something else. This, however, is exactly the reason it would translate so easily INTO a video game. Very basic concept...
You play a werewolf. Some great Bane is rising from the depths of Malfieus and you have to stop it's worshipers from summoning it to the surface. Battle through 12 stunning levels, reciving mind boggling quests from spirits to recive their power ups and face the Bane "Bane-Xor" in a final fight scene that will BLOW YOUR MIND!... Now for $19.95 in the bagrin bin. It would be made into a Hunter style game so fast our heads would spin, and all the chances of it becoming a great game would be sucked from it like human flesh through a 1 inch thick hole in the side of a space shuttle in the vacume of space. Man, think of how cool it COULD be thou. Like Soul Reaver, with the whole "Two worlds" thing, and maybe if they threw in a few hours of dialog about what is and is not tainted by the Wyrm, and gave the characters "Sense Wyrm" and let them use it on abused orphans and stuff to see that "Tainted" doesn't mean "Evil"... And maybe you could even Dance the Spiral if you failed to get that point... Damm you K.Rush, now I wanna change the story for Werewolf and MAKE this game! Dibs on profits!

Sad
This is really sad, VTM Bloodlines may be buggy, but this is the best damn RPG I've ever experienced. Two years ago withing the flood of such crappy games like Dungeon Siege, and other slashers, one company made something really playworthy, and bunch of ignorants did not pay any attention to it. Maybe because there was no multiplayer, well multiplayer is idiotic most of the time, and cannot compare to dense atmosphere of Bloodlines. What a pity that Troika went bankrupt, and that there will be no more games on VTM system, ech...
