I think this depends on how realistic they make the guns for that time period. As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, the first guns took a while to reload and were a lot of hassle to use. They probably were not too accurate either compared to modern guns. If a swordsman takes cover when their enemy fires a gun, then it makes sense that they could probably make up quite a bit of ground while the gun is being reloaded. This gives an advantage to the swordsman as once they are close, the sword will become very effective.ashes2233 wrote:also i think that guns will be underpowered as they are in all games with guns and sword (devil may cry). this will ruin it as anyone with half a brain knows that a guy with a sword wouldnt stand a chance against a guy with a gun providing the gunman is more than 6 feet away.
i think that swords will be just as goods and this will ruin any realisticness (if thats a word) in the combat of the game
Do you want guns in Fable 2?
No, as I have mentioned in other threads, guns in Fable 2 are a definite no. And unless one of the guns is a turkey cannon, I don't plan on using guns if I buy the game.
You sell your soul for enxpendable pain.Ask for the fire, "Exempt my domain." But as the battle echoes your reign, You pray for the Heavens to smother the flame.
Isn't it too early to jump to conclusion as to guns not being able to suit Fable 2's setting and guns taking away the feel of Fable? In fact, why don't you wait for further details and gameplay demonstrations? At least you will be able to see them in action and let you decide if what Lionhead is doing is worth it or not.Slayer_71 wrote:No, as I have mentioned in other threads, guns in Fable 2 are a definite no. I think instead of already giving you all kinds of ammo, you should be able to put augmentation slots on your guns, like they did for weapons in Fable and Fable:TLC. But I do think that the colonial theme would kill the idea of magic in the game. (Sorry if I'm getting off-topic)Demortis wrote:You then slow the game down with that. Because you have to pause, select your ammo, then get back to the game, I managed to go through Fable with little weapon switching. That and additional ammo slots would create more screens for gameplay... Bad Idea.

I think having augmentations in guns would most probably be good, considering that bows have augmentations in Fable: The Lost Chapters. Same mechanic. Since it worked fairly well in Fable, it wouldn't hurt to have it in guns as well. About that idea of having different ammo in guns, I brought it up a while back because I thought that it will give the game some sense of logic.Bob Dole176 wrote:I think instead of already giving you all kinds of ammo, you should be able to put augmentation slots on your guns, like they did for weapons in Fable and Fable:TLC.

Well, Fable is a fantasy game so things like that are expected, so magic will surely be in the game. But, let's get back on topic here. This thread is meant to discuss whether you want guns or not.Bob Dole176 wrote:True...but there's alot of magic in Fable, and not all things would make logic sense...like being able to shoot lightning from your palm.

if they did it right, i mean they could very easily mess up fable 2 with guns, but also could make it funner at the same time, its up to them on how they want to make it, but that would be a cool new idea to fable, i mean its already fun and guns in it would make it fun to some people but most people just want to chop people up with swords and big axes.
Not even Death will save you from me...
I think this will require a balancing act on both guns and swords. This is my main worry for Fable 2 as well. In Fable: The Lost Chapters, even though I maxed out the skill ability, I rarely use the bow and mostly use the sword or any close-range weapon to attack enemies. I sure hope that Lionhead will be able to balance both these weapons out in order to give the player more incentive to use both guns and close-range weapons.OneWingedAngel wrote:if they did it right, i mean they could very easily mess up fable 2 with guns, but also could make it funner at the same time, its up to them on how they want to make it, but that would be a cool new idea to fable, i mean its already fun and guns in it would make it fun to some people but most people just want to chop people up with swords and big axes.

I agree, but I wonder how far they will be able to shoot. The bows and crossbows in fable and Fable:TLC always went straight down if they went a certain distance without hitting something. Rounds shot from a gun will usually go really far before falling to the ground.

I agree. Guns at that time period are cumbersome to reload and it takes time to do so but the advantage is that it is further than the bow and is more powerful. The question I had in mind is whether it will be a good idea to add rifle scopes for more precise aiming?n0m071va710n wrote:If they do put guns in, they should be more powerful, but FAR slower than a bow.

but just an idea(a stupid one ) they could add like small glasses on the gun.

Can't agree more. You're right about scopes. They don't exist at that time. As for small glasses, are you referring to magnifying glasses? I think that would be a much better and logical alternative to the scope.Mandalorianx wrote:scopes? is'nt that to early, i mean they just got the gun, dont think they hade the scopes at that time.

I understand. It's a small blade at the tip of the barrel for aiming. Don't know what is the exact term for it. Had to look around for some info.Mandalorianx wrote:yeah yeah...could'nt find the word for my last post was sleepy . but yeah and then you have the aimer at the end of the gun so that it would be easyer to aim..... if you get me
