2 questions (SPOILER)

Post by lugnut »

I have two questions. One is plat related the other is technical:

Game question: What is up with that big Kristal spider? Seems intelligent, like an NPC but I can't facilitate any communication with it. Am I wasting my time or is there a plot item I need to make it happen?

Technical: Noticed that my game is responding much slower as of late. My FPS is down to 15-17 on an average and when action occurs it drops to 5-9. When I call up my menu to save it takes almost a minute for the screen to appear.

I have made no changes to my rig or OS or even the game itself. Its as vanilla as it was when I installed it.

Athlon 4.0
GeForce 7800 gtx
2 gigs ram
blah, blah, blah...

Anybody else having this issue? Or or something similar?

Thanks

I have no clue what you are talking about with the first one. Obviously something I have yet to encounter in the game.

The second one, my setup is quite a bit below yours and I don't encounter that problem at all. :confused: I've got the Radeon x1300 512mb card, a gig of RAM and just above the bare minimum for processer speed and the game works pretty well for me.

I should have been more clear before: I was having no problems whatsoever with the game until just recently. 1.2 patch and all it was fine. Its just an out of the blue thing that I can't understand.

Sorry for the confusion...

You need somebody in your party who can talk to animals.

Number 1: Already answered. Need 1 of a couple differen't people in your party. Also, yes, you DO need a plot item from a pair of nearbye "gnomes".

Number 2: You can have the best rig in the world, but your rom is getting shotty on you, your game will still run like ass, since it's reading less data from the rom and loading it into memory, yadda yadda. Outside of that, I dont really see a reason why it would run crappy on your pc. I would like to say it's your video card, as, I've always hated Nvidia, but, I doubt that'd be feasible. Even with your system, a virus scanner going off ( especially Norton or Mcaffee since they are both resource hogs ) could cause a slow down on your fps.

Im running a 2.2 ghz pent with a Gforce Go 6800 and had a really really horrible framerate even with graphics set to the lowest.

I made 2 changes, and the overall increase in performance is AMAZING:

1. Download nHancer (nHancer) and force the Vertical Sync to 'Off' for all the nwn2 exe files.
2. In your My Documents folder, locate the nwn.ini file. Change ATIWorkAroundForPointLightShadows=1 to the following:
ATIWorkAroundForPointLightShadows=0

I got these suggestions of the official NWN2 Tech support forums. Hope it does for you what it did for me.

I have exactly the same problem - ran fine initially, then gradually got sticker and stickier. But I noticed that when I first switch on and start playing, the game is ok again, but starts getting sticky - and stickier! - the longer I play.

Three things help:

1: deleting most of your past saved games - never have more than 4, plus your auto and quicksave slots;

2: after around two hours, exit the game, close your machine, and go get a drink or a bite to eat. When you come back, your game will be ok for another couple of hours...

3: go into Options and make sure the game is optimised for your system - there is a button at the bottom of the options that lets you do that.
