Rod of Resurrection

Post by Fsujonn »

I am preparing for the final battle and I have played Shadow and ToB without a manual or instructions. However, I feel it may be necessary to have a fully charged Rod of Resurrection going into the battle. My current Rod has 3 charges left. Is there a way to craft a new rod or add charges to my existing rod? Thanks for your feedback.

You can sell your rod, and the merchant that bought it will recharge it for you, however, you'll have to pay to get the rod back.

You can also try getting a rod by using the Wish spell.

Fsujonn, in regard to Fable's suggestion that you try to steal the Rod back after you have sold it to a merchant, that is a viable option, but you need to be aware of two things. First of all, if your character gets caught stealing, you won't be able to buy any items from that merchant anymore. In this case, that means that particular Rod of Resurrection would be lost forever. (There is more than one in the game.) Second of all, stolen items cannot be sold to (and bought back from) most merchants. Only "fences" will accept stolen goods. Since fences can be hard to find, getting stolen items recharged is somewhat inconvenient.

I usually steal most of the items I intend to keep (after selling them for the gold). But personally, I make an exception for rechargeable items. But it's up to you, and as always, your mileage may vary.

VonDondu -- I just ran into the problem with the Rod being a "hot" item and the only fences are gone from the game. Any suggestions on making a new Rod of Resurrection? The wish spell doesn't really work. Tried it many times. i may be up a creek on this one since I already exhausted the other non-fenced RoR.

I'm not sure what you mean by fences having "gone," but did you try
Spoiler
the Thieves Guild
? As for stealing, there's little that a couple of potions of Master Thievery won't cure. ;)

Unfortunately, once the smugglers have gone there is no way to rid oneself of fenced items in ToB. Since I cannot go back to Shadows of Amn, I have no way to trade out and/or upgrade my fenced goods. Or does anybody know of a way I am not aware of? I assume the characters cannot make wands or rods.

I see your problem. It should be possible, using the console, to create a Rod of Resurrection. Anybody got quick access to the code for Fsujonn?

The Wish spell gives you the option if you have a high Wisdom. I'm not sure but I think the group at Watcher's Keep, the Keep itself or Lazarus might have one, if you didn't check already.

Unfortunately I don't have the wisdom high enough, but my Planetar has resurrection spells so I am ok so far as I upped my Planetar spells with my 2 magic users and cleric. I have defeated Melissan twice but it is tough without a true 3rd fighter. My party is more inclined toward magic but at least I am half way there. I appreciate all the feedback. You guys are a great resource for info.
Thanks -- Jon
