Thinking about a duo game...

Post by Iceyx »

I am currently running a solo sorcerer through the game, but like my kensai, i am sure i will get bored once i hit the level cap and suck another member in. So why not duo it now? I want another caster, non mage/sorc. Druid or priest would be the best bet. So either Jaheria or that dark elf cleric that i cant remember the name of! My question here is...

Which class is more entertaining and rewarding throughout the levels? A druid? or a Priest?

--Spoiler--

I know jaheria will probably pull the harper thing halfway through at the wrong moment like she did the first time i went through the game with an actual group... Around what time does she usually do this?

my vote goes to druid :) their spells are simply more entertaining though I rarely have one in my team due to power issues. + a druid can double as a better tank than a straight cleric

I agree that Druids can be more entertaining--particularly through the insect spells, better summoning, and Nature's Beauty--however, since you're playing a Kensai, I'd think that a cleric would be more complementary. The main advantage I see of druids would be better melee support, both through summoning, and through Iron Skins. But is that particularly useful with a kensai? The cleric, obviously, has the advantage of healing, and turning ability, which will advance very quickly in a 2 character game. I personally am quite partial to Viconia. It is quite possible to give her 100% magic resistance. Give her Crom Fayer, defender of easthaven, and armor of faith, and you more or less have an iron golem that can also cast the full range of cleric spells, control undead, and have sex with you.

I am actually running the sorceress right now ;) And that being said... she is female, unless there are some *cough* alternate scripts out there, I doubt I will be recieving that type of "entertainment" .

Still solo! Sorc is much more entertaining solo than the kensai was... I might just stick with this. The faerie dragon is a good enough partner. Too bad there are no romance quests for familiar->sorc relations!

A cleric is, IMHO, more useful in SoA. I'm saying that because there are so many undead in the game. Also, a cleric has a little more than a druid when it comes to melee fighting.

So far the game is beyond easy with a solo sorcerer... another party member just wouldnt work out with this char. If only this game had heart of fury mode. That was the best fun in gaming I have had in a while ^^.

Spoilers?

This character is faster at completing quests than my games with a full group. I have never seen fikraag die so quickly. Time stop-->alacricity->Vecta robe--> 6 magic missile, 3 wilting, timestop repeat... ouch. Then theres the fact that all of that was done with a damn clone! And I just got simicrimulum, thats going to make things even quicker. So much for requiring dragonbane weapons/armor that my old groups used!

kangaxx was a pain, I didn't have energy blades yet when i did him. It took me a few trys of popping him for 1 with minute meteors and only having him regen it all back. Project image-->ring of the ram 3 times fixed that though!

Shadow dragon was difficult when i did him... I was relying heavliy on summons for that fight. I had just learned project image as well. There is no limit on the summons with the image though! so I really only used that ;D

Generally, project image is broken ^^. But this is still enjoyable! I love running in, time stopping, and blowing everything to peices.

Off to stop those damn druids!

Yep Sorcerers rock in BG2. They really do.

IF you were going to take another, I'd suggest a fighter multiclass, allowing you to save your spells for the larger battles. Fighter/druid allows you some very nice druid spells indeed aswell as healing, fighter/thief for traps and backstabbing, depends on what you like.

with the exception of a few underpowered kits, beastmaster comes to mind, pretty much anybody can solo the game :) as for a heart of fury mode, well try tactics :)
