Ahoy maties,
Firstly, hi all, welcome to my first post on this message board. I wonder if anyone would be able to help me out with a problem I'm having in Act 2.
I'm spending the night in the Temple of Tyr, before my appointment with Lorne. After my companions and Sir Nevalle come and give their spiels, the game goes to the loading screen, loads all the modules, and then promplty crashes to the desktop.
I'm running Windows XP, with my game patched to version 1.02.809. I have over 1gb of ram, and 9gigs of free space on the drive. I've tried everything from rebooting, to repatching to swearing at my monitor. None work.
Is anyone able to offer advice?

I'm sorry that I don't know the answer as my PC isn't up to snuff to play the game yet, but I will ask that you need to include spoiler tags to thread titles when you are going to include in game specifics. Thank you.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

My apologies, I'd thought I had been subtle enough to not need the spoiler tag. I shall err on the side of caution in the future.
Once again, I would be very thankful for any advice any knowledgable person may be able to dispense. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the next stage of the game.

Hmm - if you repeatedly crash at that location it sounds to me as the file(s) in question are corrupt, and as such I have no easy method of testing.
Try reinstalling the game, possible on a different drive if you have the opportunity, to see if it happens again. Possible another computer altogether to test if it is the discs which are the problem - if this then you should be able to get them exchanged at the store where you bought them.

Insert signature here.
Also could be the Patch, so you could make sure first off you back up a couple of your most recent Saves.
Then reinstall the game, try it without patching just to get past that point.
If it works then repatch the game and report the bug on Official forums bug reports if you have the time and concern to let them know.
If not then its possible you have a corrupted Save, can you try starting from your last Save game before the one your currently tring?
Last try it with only patch 1.1 (?) not sure what the first patch number.
Really no easy way out on this, since its not a known issue, so it will be just trial and error.
Good Luck and Welcome to the Board.

Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

I decided to go for a bit of a 'Scorched Earth' policy with this one. I found myself a shiny new copy of the game, reinstalled, and deleted all my saves and patches. I considered sowing the ground directly under my computer with salt, so that no living thing would ever grow there again, but decided that I'd done enough to solve the problem already.
So far all is well
Thanks to everybody for their comments

I would have tried playing the game unpatched. Standard, out of the box.
I never patched my game, and encountered no game stopping bugs or crashes. I did occasionally crash to desktop when changing areas, but it never happened to me more than once in the same area.
Someone suggested a corrupt file, if I had to make a guess, I'd go with the same theory. Since you now have a new version of the game however, I hope your problem is fixed.
