Bridge Glitch

Post by Oscuro_Sol »

Okay, so pretty new to BGII.

I'm doing the Eyeless Cult quest, and I'm under the sewers and everything, I went to the bridge on the second level, and I answered two riddles correctly, got the third one incorrect, and one of those creatures appears. I'm doing beautifully until I decide to rest... :o

My party wakes up, so I click on the "gap" to do the riddles again, which I *know* you can, because I did it before. :(
Yeah, it just doesn't respond. When I'm far away, it just says "You are too far away to use this," and when I get closer and click it, nothing happens. I've tried resting again and clicking it, leaving the area and coming back then clicking it... nothing works. :(

Help.. please?

Try going back to the autosave, this sounds like a bug. the auto save is'nt far from the bridge you'll only lose between 5-15 minutes depending how fast your team can clear it's way to the bridge

I came across another bug in the same quest. I had just merged the two halves of the rift device before saving. Going back to the game later, the Eye didn't turn up and I couldn't find him anywhere. So don't save between getting the device and killing him.

I ended up going back quite a bit farther from the autosave (which I couldn't use, 'cause I'd gone back in forth through areas trying to get the bridge to work) and the bridge worked, but I didn't get much further than that because I kept dying on the creatures past that... :o
I'll probably go back later.

Thanks for your help. :)

Another question here, I don't think it really deserves another thread...

I've just finished the Harper stronghold quest, where you have to go once Jaheira comes back. I've killed all the guys, and I was sort of expecting Jaheira to start dialogue after the combat ended, but she didn't. Is this what's supposed to happen, or another glitch?

spoiler

I think that sometimes Jah's scripts are delayed - not all of her reactions are instant.

I would suggest that in the Eye quest, that you save it after taking the items from the statue (after the spiders). the monsters after that vary according to the level of the party, I think - a bunch of mummies/greater mummies are very common for me - and after the bridge are gauth/beholders THEN shadow fiends/wraiths. I use summoned creatures to take out the eyes - stand well back from the bridge and send wave after wave of summoned creatures against them - woodland creatures (dryads) are good as are area-effects cast just in front of them - Cloud Kill gets rid of the eyes, as it gets rid of so many other enemies.
after that - a powerful cleric or a buffed character immune to level drain is an idea - I like walking into them with a high 'turn undead' on - if your character is high enough, they fight amongst themselves. Sir Anomen with the enhanced MoD isn't bad either.

So, by delayed, you mean that she'll talk to me, eventually? D'you how long? :o

I'll keep that in mind for when I go back, thanks. :)
I didn't even know there was stuff in the statue... :o

The Shield of Balduran and the Clock of Reflection (or is it Mirroring) are excellent against Beholders and Gauths. One person equipped with both can clear out the entire area.

Gahh... now the flashing circle / triangles thing appeared on Yoshimo and won't go away, even after he leaves my party. I'm having issues with this game and bugs...

What mods do you have installed and have you installed the latest ToB patch (assuming you have ToB)?

No mods, and no ToB.
I'm very, uhm... non-computery.
I'm surprised I even got the game installed.

try downloading the latest Shadows of Amn official patch from the Bioware website just type it into google. Baldurdash fix pack is also another good one again type into google and Download

make sure that the patch is for shadows of amn and not throne of bhaal otherwise it won't install and you'll be banging your head against the wall.

let us know how it goes after the patch

edit: just noticed you have over 4000 posts, how is it that you say your "non computery" ??

:o I guess I can try, but I'll probably mess it up.

haha 4000 posts consists of:
1000 posts-> spam.
1000 posts-> posts asking for help because I'm not computery.
1000 posts-> just because I like to see my own typing a lot.
1000 posts-> more spam.
