Where are all the women gone?

Post by GothmogII »

Okay...I just got Gothic 3 and though I've not progressed much,
I have been exploring the surrounding villages etc.
Now......where are all the women? I haven't seen one single female anywhere,
every village I come to has been populated by men. Is it because it was
made by a German company, and that through censorship issues they
can't show women being attacked with weapons? If that's the case
it's pretty stupid, others like Oblivion etc. have females and no bother seems
to come of it.

"Go home Bill Orc, go cry to your mother!" "Uhhhh, what's a mother?"

However...this could all be in my tiny little head, and that
I've just yet to see any women, so has anyone else seen any?

There are female rebels in the main rebel camps (i.e. Reddock), they are very rare sight though.

I'll tell you a little secret: Some of the Orcs are actually female. They just sound like male Orcs. Use some imagination and you'll be fine :D

jk.

My guess of the reason why female are so rare in the game is:

1) They spend all their developing fund on their super-duper-mega-awsome-cali-fragi-funky-sexy quad core quad SLI development PC, so they have no money left to purchase some female NPC resource pack or can't pay enough to the poor 3D-modeler that, he died of hunger before he manged to complete all the mega sexy female models.

2) The developers are gay.

yet again, jk.

Reminds me of Gothic I - It was a complete Sausage Fest if you know what I mean. No women what so ever, except those scantly clad strippers in the Old Camp that had a single line to say which annoyed you as hell. Gothic II atleast had some women, and they allowed the Main character to get some lovin' as well in a tastefully made cinematic. - I'm kind of disappointed to hear that they went back to the Gothic I style of no women.

I noticed this too and it does strike me as odd. At least Fable: The Lost Chapters have a sizable number of both female and male civilians (and children as well), which is quite logical and what you expect when visiting a town or a village (even though the faces look all the same). All the towns and settlements in Gothic 3 looks like they're only inhabited by men (be they orcs or human) and it gives me a very weird feeling when visiting them. :(

It would be much better if women and children are included in any town/village you visit, even though if it means that I will expect to see the same type of face on every civilian. At least there will be a feeling of life wherever you go.

It just came to me, maybe they removed the women from the game so that the horny gamers wouldn't be distracted. - I finished Gothic I all the faster because there were no women, I finished Gothic II in twice the time because of me going constantly to see that girl at the docks!

Well, if that is the problem, then, why not design more decent clothing for female NPCs? Really. It's not that hard. This is the most simple solution for any game that want to include civilians (both male and female) instead of removing female NPCs altogether from the game.

That's just it! If there ARE female character, they'll probably be given nice hour-glass figures and 38DD breasts, wide hips and large backsides. Not to mention skipy clothing to appease the horndog gamers. They won't make any 'ordinary' or 'every-day' women.

They're much... chauvinistic for that. So in order so save money as well as hormones, they decided to scrub the 'women' idea out the window. Of course if the person (since this is an RPG theoretically speaking) decides his character is going to be into male-male relations, then this game is paradise, isn't it?

Gothic 3 isn't one of those...shudder...Japanese RPGs. There aren't so many women because the engine made it hard to animate long hair. At least that's what the devs said...

Well, they (the developer) don't really need to give female NPCs long hair. They could just give them short hair or ponytails to save them the trouble of animating long hair just like what Lionhead did to the female NPCs in Fable: The Lost Chapters.

Agreed! Plus, what's wrong with Anime-RPGs lol you get to see Anime-Boobies! Meaning if you're an anime-geek like I am you'll enjoy it! And if you're not well then you'll probably hate it *nods*

But to not go on a tangent, I agree with what was said in the post just previous to this one about the animators just giving the women short hair or pony tails or just give then hats or something to not animate long hair.
