Authenticate Original Disc Retry Error?

Post by RoeanStoll »

I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem and if there was any way to fix it: Each time I click on NWN2 on my desktop to start the program (disc inserted already), I get the error - 'could not authenticate original disc within time limit - retry? cancel?'. I then click retry and the game slowly loads. To me, it seems to take a much longer time than other games, such as Oblivion, but perhaps that is simply because of its large code - I don't know. If anyone could help me with this issue, I'd really appreciate it.

Your disc drive may be too old and slow. Or it could be old and dying. Or, the disc could be damaged. :(

NWN2 just takes a long time to start up and load saves and make area transitions. That part, I think, is the same for everybody.

Or it could be your disk drive trying to get past the copyright protection, which I know prevented a friend of mine from playing the game *at all*.

Well, my CD drive isn't old. It's a XPS system. I don't know about the copyright protection. It always begins on the second try (retry). Odd.
