I got really hooked to Planescape:Torment, I especialy liked the part where Candrian explains how the whole world of planes is consisted, but I must admit it was a bit confusing. Does anyone know where can I find some pictures of the planes (inner, outer etc.) or something to read that would explain that whole world better? I saw some books like "Manual Of The Planes" and "Planewalker's Handbook", and I'm sure they explain a lot of things, but they cost a lot, so is there a site or whatever that's free and where I can find some material about Planescape?
Also, if someone knows where can I find something like a dictionary for terms like THAC0 or damage 2D6, that thoroughly explains such things?

To find out the answers to all these questions you should try looking at different D&D resources. THAC0 and XdY I can explain to you right now, if you want me to that is.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”

Eh...I don't understand. What do you mean by try looking at different D&D resources (name one)?
As for THAC0, I know it means something like "To Hit Armor Class 0", but what does that mean exactly and how important it is? And I could use an explanation about damage (XdY).

Well, THAC0 is basically, as the name implies, your chance to hit the opponent against their armor class. THAC0, in my opinnion, is important for any character that fights in meele, such as rogues and thieves, as they can't do much damage if they can't hit. You can improve it by putting points into your strength attribute as well as equiping weapons that give you a THAC0 bonus.
XdY is basically spread out like this:
X is the number of dice that you're throwing
Y is the number of sides that a dice has.
So if you have a scalpel, which does 1d3 damage, it means that to figure out the damage you would roll one, three sided dice. (Don't question the logic.)
Remember that Planescape Torment was based off of D&D, a table top game.
To learn more about the characters and the setting try reading the Planar Handbook. You could probably find some .pdf files online or the actual books in a library or so.

Ok just let me see if I understood: If a mace has 2d6 damage that means two six-sided dices are rolled (with numbers from 1-6 on sides I suppose) and the results of the throw of dices sum up to give the infilicted damage.
Example: The 1st dice rolls and you get a 3, the 2nd one rolls and you get a 6, the result damage is 3+6=9, and you inflict 9 damage. Right?
So if a weapon deals 1d12 damage you roll the dice once and the highest damage you can do is 12?? (which means 2d6 is better damage?)
And if a weapon is say Long Sword +3, with damage 1d8+3, that means that 3 is added to the result of your throw each time.
I AM a pain in the ass I know, I figured that out after seeing how long this post is when I finished it

Yep, you more or less got it, however, that is the damage of a weapon alone. There are a few other factors that play a role in figuring out how much damage the weapon does when wielded by your character.

I do believe http://www.planewalker.com will have what you're looking for.C-K'R[PhoEniX] wrote:I got really hooked to Planescape:Torment, I especialy liked the part where Candrian explains how the whole world of planes is consisted, but I must admit it was a bit confusing.
