Please help me

i just installed Dungeon Lords the collectors edition onto my pc. When i click on the DL icon on my desktop to play the game, the game does not run. I double click on the icon again and i get a brief glimpse of the Dungeon Lords icon popping up on my start menue task bar as if the game is about to start running. But then it dissapears and nothing happens. Why isnt the game playing on my pc? My pc meets all the game requirements, the game was installed correctly. Should i just return the game or am i missing something.

Are you using a laptop? I don't believe that the videocards in laptops are supported by the game. I initially installed the game on my laptop and had a very similiar problem to what you are describing.

PLEASE, PLEASE... Nobody on these forums can read your mind !

I don't mean to seem crass, but you mention nothing at all about what all is in your computer; how much hard drive space available, is it de-fragmented?, how much ram memory sticks do you have, what is your video card specs?, do you have dx 9.0c installed, have you downloaded the latest drivers for your video card, what resolution are you trying to run the game at.

So you can see, you can't just run out and buy a game and install it, and expect it to run ok. Let us know what you have, then you'll get intelligent information.

Ah, so an "intelligent" response is required. Perhaps checking the technical support for DL at Dreamcatcher may help. It seems a few others are describing similiar problems to what you are experiencing. I will repeat at the risk of sounding foolish that I had a similiar problem with my laptop. (clicking on the shortcut starts a bit of the splash screen and then the screen goes black with nothing happening.)

Dungeon Lords requires a DirectX 9 compliant video card with a minimum of 64 MB of onboard RAM. All major series of graphics boards (ATI, NVIDIA, etc.) have been tested to work with the game. Please note that the Intel Extreme Graphics chipsets are NOT currently supported as they do not support Hardware Transform and Lighting. Supported video cards include:

NVIDIA - GeForce 2, 3, 4, FX 5xxx, 6xxx series (All must have 64MB VRAM or better).

ATI Radeon Families - 7000 series, 8000 series, 9000 series, X8nn series. (All must have 64MB VRAM or better).

Same problem

I have the same problem with my new DL CE. I start the game and a quick black screen pops up and goes away within a second. I tried running at 800/600 resolution, it did the same thing. My cpu is more than capable of running the game, but I'm not sure of my video card. How do I check to see what kind of video card I have? I did not upgrade when I built on Dell, so I have w/e was standard at the time. My cpu consists of:

2.66 Celeron processor
1 Gig of ram
Maybe 80 free gigs of hard drive
Direct X has been updated, believe it's 9.something C version.

I have check several forums and I have had no luck. Other forums haven't had posts for months. This seems to be the most active, but I've seen this problem a few times and I have yet to see a resolution. Any help would be greath, otherwise I have to drive 50 minutes one way to return the game.:0(

I now see in my control panel an Icon for Intel Extreme Graphics (2). Is this my video card? I saw the previous post stating something about Intel Extreme is not compatible w/ DL. Is this my problem?

Here are a couple things to try:

1. From the start menu select "run" and then type in "dxdiag." That will bring up a diagnostic tool, which should list your graphics card under "display."

2. From the control panel, select "display." Your graphics card should be listed under "settings" somewhere.

If you have one of those integrated intel cards, you might be out of luck.
