Skill issues

Post by ansa_ »

I have general question, readed "a lot" this forum, and walkthroughs and there is allways "catch" that sciense, traps and ect, needs to be level x, but how on earth there is so much levelling up that you can get so much skill points, and what is help that your skill goes above 100%

Welcome to GameBanshee!! :)

It depends totally on the way you build your cahracter. If you choose the specific perks and use most of the points to specific skills, then it's very easy to reach the demands of that skill. But the catch is that you probably can achieve enough points to every skills, so you must choose how to develop your character. It is, after all, no suprise that you can't build superhero character who is best in everything... you must choose your strengths and weakness'

Also, to get skill over 100% helps in certain situations... for example, weapon and fighting skills over 100% gives better chances to hit even if it's dark, better repair gives you the ability to repair even more complex machine and so on...
So, generally the points over 100% helps in more special situations like night or in special requirements...

Well, that's what the drugs are for.

Well, that's not so good idea, since drugs tend to leave addiction and they have some nasty backdraws...
So I would suggest caution when dealing with drugs, and only using them in situations where there is no better option...

That's true, but it's also totally different topic...

It hit me like lightning.

I have been always stingy, not readed those maganizes, but selled, because they are worth of money, like in beginning where you really need money, if I create character again some day, maybe he/she reads a lot =)

Yes, books are very good way to raise your skills at the beginning...
You should remember, though, that there is a limit how much you can learn from the book sand magazines...

A character can become good at everything. Books generate 90% (at least, I don't remember if it hit 95%) in those skills. Tag other skills. Also VIC and Myron has useful skills for early when you haven't read enough books.

Those two are not worth a ****. Cassidy and Goris are the best (want my judgement - find it somewhere). As for the books, yes they are a good way to spare some points and invest them in something that you might need in near future. As for me, I used to take Mentats and then read a couple of them (round 5) so that not to waste the effect. But drugs of course must be used with game saving (you can use even Jet a 100 times and not to get addicted - if you save the game after a non-addictive dose :D ).
