I had an idea... (new skins)
Hi there!
I belong to a few gaming sites for games that support player modifications. I was disappointed that Dungeon Lords doesn't have that feature, but while browsing through the game files I noticed that alot of the textures are in Windows bitmap format. I decided to play around with it a bit (after making backups of everything and saving my game in 2 slots for safety sake). Here is a little armor set that I made from the standard plate mail:
I know I am very frilly and girly, but I think it is just funny to have some stylin' threads to roam around with.

I'm into skinning too, and I thought the game could use some, so I made a skin patch for the chosen race (not black or asian) human female, it includes:
- Chain Pro Fire chest
- Guilded Mail & Leggings
[Edit: Link to image of naked female skin removed.]
The file can be found HERE
enjoy!

OOH OOH, great yall!
I think any game can be modified. Just about anything can be done with DL with a hex editor. The only reason nobody bothered with mods is a really bad reputation for the game was created, mainly "being unfinished"
Just a small example;
The loose brick in the theater could be moved in versions prior to 1.5, and a secret room wat opened downstairs. In 1.5, the brick can't be moved, but through hex editing my position, I discovered that secret room still has treasure. go figure

Wow, those skins look great!! I had the exact same idea for the chain pro-fire and made it but your result looks much more polished than mine. May I ask what program(s) you are using? I am using MS paint and a free program called photofiltre.

(those are shadows on her legs, btw. )
Regarding the broken brick in the theatre, I know. It is so silly that when I played my 1.3 version it worked and now I recently got the collector's edition and surprise! It really is a shame that Dreamcatcher didn't make modding tools for the gaming community. I have so many mods for Dungeon Siege including weapons, armor and spells. Think of all the broken things in the game that modders would probably have fixed all on their own...

For making the nude skin, I used Paint, ACDSee editor (for color/contrast tweaks), and had some pictures for...inspiration
Anyway, the rest was pretty basic stuff, just cut the parts I wanted from the armor skins, copy and paste over the nude one, and voila. That's the method I've been using since Q1.
As for the game, it has so many flaws, I don't even know where to begin with, but it's so much fun to play in multiplayer, that it makes up for everything else. Probably in the 1st week of the new year I'll play it with 4 or 5 other players, and that will be fun.

I made nude textures as well, for the default elf and human female. I am working on the Black and Asian skintones next, but I dunno about the Fathien female elf. She looks way too pasty. My boyfriend and I play multiplayer (as well as singleplayer) and he thinks the nude skins are fun. It is relatively easy to modify these textures as they are in bitmap form. I would love to model some new stuff with my own properties such as amor rating and enhancement, but oh well. I had a recommedation just yesterday for blender, a free 3d modelling program. Wouldn't it be cool to create your own player character or custom armor/spells/ weapons? Nonetheless, I really like Dungeon Lords despite it's flaws and shortcomings.
I isolated the dragon from the back of the Imperial armor, and matched the background to the skin of the human male because I thought it would make a cool looking tattooo on his back.

Oh humbug.
No offense, but the Urgoth is not that great, at least in my opinion. Yes, he is easy to raise strength and vitality but that is it. Every other attribute is very expensive. The dwarf and the zaur are also easy to raise strength and vitality very easily and agility and dexterity are not too hard, nor intelligence. The human male is pretty easy to raise all attributes in as well. Plus in the 1.5 version the Urgoth can't fit into some areas at all.
My bf wanted monochromatic Samurai armor with sumo Cartman (from SouthPark) on the back... Here tis':

I don't really know anything about hex editing, could you recommend a program (preferably free or lowcost and /or easy for a n00b such as myself to learn) ?George_K wrote: Just about anything can be done with DL with a hex editor.
Can the attributes of the armor be changed in this manner? For example, armor rating or strike enhancements.

I don't really care how hard it is to raise him. It's do-able, and I don't have CE, so no problems there. I just like urgoths because they look cool: Big and Mean, warrior-type. The kind that you know it's gonna crush you. Dwarf and Zaurs are funny, and the other animal races. As for humans and elves - I never liked playing with those races. Chicks look good thoughkathycf wrote:Oh humbug.

Heh, well it is all individual choice.
My bf said the same thing as you about the Urgoth, that he looks cool and brutal. I think he looks like a mad dork. I typically play a female character because I tend to identify more with them and that makes the game more fun for me. I have had a Wylvan because I thought he looked sort of like my dog. But then that made me mad when he got swarmed and injured..."Hey, leave my puppy alone!". I also had a human male character because it was fun to watch him run around in his tight fitting pants.
At any rate, I hope to re-work more of the armor. If folks have any ideas, please post them, that would be great. Discussions are fun!

lol, I am not even thinking greenscreen stuff anyways. I am currently working on some very long gloves, which uses the glove texture and part of the arm ( to make it longer, ie above elbow length. Sort of like opera gloves.)
Why? Just because it is fun and I want to see how it looks. I thought it would look fun with a modified top. I made a Merry widow corset out of the default doublet that females start with. However, it just looks like something somebody would wear on their honeymoon and not armor to fight in. Oh well.

The shoulder armor is tough. There are a few (although I don't think deathlord) in the cachetex folder. There are a few in the pchm folder, but just the ones that the human male uses. I couldn't find any in the other folders. It might be in a different type of file than bitmap anyway, in which case I don't wish to mess around with it.
*edit* this is that corsety thing I mentioned before...
