I have a strange bug that only occurs when running NWN or one of the modules. My computer just completely shuts off at random. I'll be hanging out in the dungeon, or in a shop, or anywhere- and it just shuts off.
Anybody with something similar?
Or a way to stop it?

It sounds like a memory conflict, as though something you've got that runs periodically in the background is occupying the same memory space as NWN. What flavor of Windows are you using, and how much memory do you have?
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Do you play other games?
Sounds to me as overheating CPU or if it is only NwN then possible a faulty installation, but without much information it is difficult to guess.

I had the same problem with NWN and Diablo 2. The problem was in graphic card. Do you have proper drivers installed?

more info

Thank you for the helpful thoughts so far.
In response to questions folks have asked:
I'm running Windows XP (5.1) with nearly 1 GB of RAM available
I've played Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on this computer
(But I think I've changed PC's since playing Diablo 2)
I'm reasonably sure that I have the right drivers installed for my graphics card (it's the same setup that the system came with) but, that sounds like a good thought. I will check to make sure.
I shall try running NWN with all of the "occasionally running" programs turned off, to see if that helps.
thank you
