Hi,
How can I find an item, specifically, the "Fake Soul" Gem from Ajira as part of the Mage's Quests? Early on, as I was learning to play ES, I sold the gem instead of putting it on Galbedir's desk. Now, I have no idea how to recover it so that I can continue the Ajira related quests. Is there a similar consol command to 'placeatpc' (thanks again DW) for items, or is there another way I can recover the gem?
Thanks!

player->additem "item ID" 1
I think the Id is "soulgem_fake".
I wouldn't reccomend using the console all the time. It will mess up your game and it's meant to be there so you can unmess up your game and various other reasons.

Hi ML,
Thanks for the reply. I tried your console command and dispite many variations only got, 'ScriptSysWindow CompileAndRun command "player" not found on line 1. player additem "soulgem_fake" 1'
Does that mean there is a problem with the 'player' command? Do I need to input the name of my character insted of player there?

Ah yes, got it now, but. . ."soulgem_fake" doesn't work. I get, 'Script SysWindow CompileAndRun Item soulgem_fake was not found on line 1. Compiled script not saved!'
I've tried:
fake_soulgem
soulgem fake
soulgemfake
fake_soul_gem
soulgem_fake
soul_fakegem
fakesoul_gem
Any ideas?

Well, I'd say that replacing the soul gem you accidently sold counts as "unmessing" your gameMagelord648 wrote: I wouldn't reccomend using the console all the time. It will mess up your game and it's meant to be there so you can unmess up your game and various other reasons.
@Jshonyar,
If you continually use the console, especially to make radical changes (such as trying to alter your PC's race or something), then yes, you truly stand to cause serious problems with your game. However, if it is just used occasionally to alter minor things (and adding game items into your inventory is pretty minor), you should be fine. I've often used the console in a single game to fix various bugs, like vanishing NPCs, or edit my inventory if I've misplaced something important, and I've never had a problem.
If you have something like this again, just open up your construction set, and you'll find all of the item IDs listed there.
Also, on this page you can find all kinds of console commands. While they can be used for some serious cheating, I really would not recommend it since it destroys the game experience (and MW is easy enough as it is), however, a number of them are certainly useful in those "Oops, I goofed," instances.
