Does anyone here play BG2 on LCD monitors??

Post by liorde »

Hi again,
I am on the brink of buying my first LCD monitor, and believe it or not, one of my first questions to myself was , "will I be able to play BG2 on it"..
I know the LCD's have this "Native Resolution" issue, which in the 19" case, is 1024 X 1280.
So what happens in cases where certain games are configures to run at lower resolutions??
Has anyone played there BG2 on LCD's ?? If yes then on which LCD's and which game settings.

Thank-you!!

I've been playing BG1 on an LCD monitor for over 5 years and BG2 for about 6 months without problems.

I've played BG2 on my LCD for about two years, it works great!
I have a Samsung LCD, can't recall the model, and I have my game at all the highest settings, it looks pretty damn good actually.

They only time that you will run into a problem with playing a game on an LCD is for fast-paced action games. For those types of games you will need an LCD with a very fast response time.

None of the Infinity Engine games fall into the fast-paced action game category so you won't have a problem with any LCD monitor for those games.

Hi,
I was actually refering to the resolution changes between the Native res. and the game Res which is 800*600 or 1024*768.

Thanks.

It's done automatically by your video adapter actually, there will be no problem. It will either stretch the view or box it with black borders if the resolutions are incompatible, depending on your settings. I've been playing on my laptop (1024x768) for several years now, and i have gone through a bunch of old games, including BG1, and have had no problems.

Good news then..!

I intend to buy a 4:3 format monitor, I was thinking about an EIZO monitor which I saw lately. Quite pricy but very accurate in colors and large viewing angle.

Thank-you for the tips friends.
I welcome more tips if you have.
