Is this weapon worth purchasing from Nym? It seems awfully expensive. Even using my Paladin/Sorceror with the Mercantile Background feat and 24 charisma to "negotiate," the price is 23,424 gp. That is nearly a quarter of my party's treasury.
The bonus fire damage seems nice, but the lack of any "to hit" enchantment worries me. It seems like I should be running up against more enemies with damage reduction for which an enchanted weapon is needed to bypass, and that this weapon really won't be useful against such enemies.
On the other hand, it is a simple weapon, so any member of my party can use it.
Also, if wielded by a drow or gray dwarf PC, can the effects from the fire damage blind the PC?

Well the gold can be spent other places.
Still with all the trolls and the slimes and things you need fire to kill I think it is nice to have an extra fire weapon. There were some types of trolls that didn't die to 1 point of fire damage but they died to a lot of fire (maybe they had 5 DR fire?).
So I'm not sure if it is worth it but if you do buy it you will use it I think. I don't think the fire damage actually hits your pc so they won't go blind. Other comment would be that that fire does lots of damage! The best thing about the weapon is its ability to kill regenerating things and badly hurt fire vulnerable creatures.

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
BUY! The tourch is a great weapon, well ok not "great" but very good. Use it and you will notice it's devestating damage. And about the gold; it is never in short suply for long. There's many ways to raise gold and this weapon is worth the costs.
And no, it does not blind drow and duegars. Wht do you think that? The weapon doesn't have any kind of attributes for that what I know of. And drow and duegars doesn't get blinded by fire damage automatically you know.
