Monk with Maximized Attacks

Post by Claudius »

I was thinking of a character for normal mode (would be obsolete by HOF as no spells)...

Fighter4/MonkX

I take the 4 fighter levels for maximized attacks (need Weapon Specialize).
Now when he is monk 16 he does 20 points + bonus in damage (1d20 does 20).

Do you think this makes up for slowing the monk special abilities by 4 levels?

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

A fighter4/monk16 does more damage with a good weapon (like the "massive halberd of hate" or "greatsword of the soulless+5") than with fists, even when "maximized attacks" is enabled.

I haven't tested out the math but I'll take your word for it! Also the thought occured to me that a level 20 monk would do more base damage with fists! I think monk is either a pure in normal mode or a mix-in for some special things.

ps thanks for bringing me back to sanity before I waste game time with wrong party!
