Defeating Koroboros (Spoilers)

Post by Lelio »

I must be getting rusty, this is the second time this game has defeated me. In this case its Koroboros - when you chase after Ammon Jerro when he leaves the keep. This demon he appears to be so utterly impossible to defeat its ridiculous. Its not enough that he takes hardly any damage per hit, but he summons a legion of friends to help him.

Any hints/tips you can give me?

I don't even remember this encounter, so I must not have had too much trouble with it. Sometimes if an enemy seems impossible to defeat, it's because a cutscene didn't trigger properly. So you might want to load your game and see if anything changes.

Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

I remember fighting this demon you speak off, but i didn't recall it being so hard as you say it is?

I dont know if you got any casters with you, but i found saac's Lesser Missile Storm (level 4) or Isaac's Greater Missile Storm (level 6) to be of great use for encounters as that one, i memorize them using all posible metafeats like empower spell / quicken spell etc to memorize it for level 5-7-8-9.
This spell just eats through enemies as long as you can get it on 1 target instead of spreading it among more (just watch the AoE indicator when you want to cast it). If you done the part of getting the ironfists as allies use Khelgar to bash that demon that worked for me :) .

Oh well, just my luck to find a seemingly easy fight impossible. I will go back and re-load and see if that helps.

Cheers.

I had some problems here too, but finally found a strategy that worked.

The trick is to take them on in small groups. I got pounded when I tried to take them all on at once.

Immediately at the start ofthe fight I took the entire party back to the world transition spot, and commanded them to stay put. The enemy did not follow. Then, I ran up (by myself) and made a distance attack on one of the summoned devils - and then retreated back to the waiting group. This way, I was able to lure them into battle one or two at a time.

Koroboros himself stayed at zero hitpoints for quite a while before dying - I am not sure just what was going on there - but he finally did keel over.

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS**
Took me 7 or 8 times to beat Koroboros and his minions, but I finally found some help myself.
What worked for me:
I had me: Fighter (12), Weapon Master (5 or 6)
Khelgar (already a monk, and completed the Ironfist Clan quest), Qara, Zhjaeve (spelling?), & Sand.
As the start fighted, cast Isaac's Greater Missle Storm AT Koroboros (eats away like crazy), use the Sword of Gith's Shard Blast ON Korobors (eats away like crazy).
If all your characters are leveled up all the way, that should eat more that half of his life away. After that, get ready to throw both of them at him again (if required, he'll be almost dead), then let your melee fighters finish him. If you have some good melee fighters, after Koroboros dies (shouldn't be very hard, but still took me 7 times to find the right combo), unleash all the h*ll you can on the rest that have been summoned (high level cold spells, Power Attack Mode for the melee people that can, Zhjaeve Mass Heal [if you have it, and need it]).
After all that, you should be able to win this battle fairly easy (I cannot do the spellcasting, that's why I play strictly Fighter to Weapon Master), but if you know the spellcasting, and have some good melee fighters with good equipment (just give them that target and let them run), it shouldn't be too bad.
