Well, as many of you know, this question comes from one of the best and one of our favorite RPGs of all time, Planescape Torment. And, as my introductory post to (or my first post in) the Speak Your Mind forum I would like to ask all of you this question and hear all of your answers. Hopefully we'll get some friendly arguing in here, sharing and discussing our answers as well as points.
As a side question, inspired by Dragon Wench and Aqua-Chan's fan fiction and my love for any form of roleplaying: Would anyone be interested in a roleplay based on and taking place during some of our favorite RPGs? I would *love* to do Baldur's Gate II, but I feel that the two have it covered, so I'll ask about the first one, which is very close to me as well as the Icewind Dale series, which would grant more freedom due to the lack of joinable NPCs and lack of personality from the player created characters.

@SupaCat- please read the thread before assuming what it's about. Your post had nothing to do with roleplaying Baldur's Gate or Planescape as implied.
@Cren-
I'd like to do that as well, though I wouldn't be capable of GMing it simply because I've never played BG 1 or 2 or any of the games mentioned. But if you or someone else would DM, that sounds rather cool actually.

I have some experience in DMing, so I guess I could. If we would do it the normal way, we would need something along the lines of a random number generator or something too simulate the dice. (Which shouldn't be too hard to make... I can make the function through Java... I'd just need help with the GUI. Would Buck be willing to add such a feature? If anyone would want to, we could try to set up a standard D&D campaign. Now, I don't have every manual so if anyone could contribute, that would be great.
Anyway, the way I'd start was by sending out character sheets (I have one in PDF form which you can fill out. I don't think it's too good to go with rolling for stats as it can get cheap, just rolling for maximum scores, so I suggest a "set score" way. Basically you get these stats 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, 8 and you're free to put them into what ever attribute you want. This makes you think about a way to make your character stronger and balance him/her.
As for the roleplaying aspect, I would like to stay away from asterisks (**) and type everything out in story form. My standard posts range from about half a page to a full page and it should be written as if writing a book. I would suggest for some people to use original names. My user name, Crenshinibon is a name of an ancient artifact from the world of Faerun and would probably interfere with the storyline.
Any comments or suggestions?

D20 System Reference Document and Dice Bag are two things you can use if you are going to actually use the DnD rules in the game. If not, the latter will function as a dice rolling program if you still just want dice for...I dunno what you would use them for if you aren't using the game rules, but *shrugs* you mentioned needing a program.
As far as the game, with work and my prior planned events I am pressed for time so couldn't join into a new one, but I wouldn't mind allowing you into one I am planning to start around Feb 3rd or so. If this doesn't take off and you are interested let me know and I will provide the link for you.

Aye Crensh i knew you would be up for it!
Great, so I'm willing to do it, i like the idea with the set stats. Magrus if you could elaborate on your game maybe i'll join?
Ok i think the best thing to do is find some more players and have the DM start an official game thread. There we will post ACTS and ONLY ACTS, so the whole adventure will be a nice flow of consecutive posts... I especially like the fact that everyone will try writing this as if it were a fantasy book (my posts will be somewhat limited though, i don't have Robert Jordan's vocabulary potential
)
Actually i just read some of Dragon Wench's writing in the Fan Fiction and i must admit i was really impressed. It would be great if we could get her and posters of similar writing skills to tag along
OK ready whenever Crensh is.

Well, you'd be welcome to join my game, however, you would need to learn the rules on the first link I posted there. Very similar to the rule systems in IWD 2, NWN and NWN 2. If you were willing to learn, and get a basic grasp on the rules, here is a link to the site where the game is taking place: Mysteries of Darkspur Mountain Campaign. If you do join, I may rework the game, or I may have one of the other players guide you in following along with the way I have it set up now.
Basically, it was supposed to be for new players, in order to draw new members to our site. I made adjustments due to only have 2 players, but I can adjust again if you wanted to join in. The basic plot will be you end up being charged with discovering the source of violent occurences in the towns near to a mountain chain at the edge of the kingdom you are in. You start at 1st level, and work your way up. There will be a bit of mystery, some problem solving, teamwork, and fighting.

Very welcome. The IWD 2, NWN and NWN 2 games are based off of the 3/3.5 rules. I know the NWN series is based off of the 3.5 edition. I believe IWD2 is based off of 3rd edition, which is now outdated. However, there were changes made to fit the game engine and game play. Mainly spell, feat and skill alterations, and a complete change in how resting affects your character. But, if you played those, it's not too hard to correct things if you are familiar with them. Take a look when you can, I'm not starting the game for a few weeks anyhow due to one of the players having personal stuff to deal with.
