Hmmm...Jahiera

Post by KILLINGFIELDS »

Hey all, first post on the site. I know there are plentiful resources on this great forum in regards to triggering alive Jah's stonecold heart. But ive kinda hit a wall in my romantic ventures with her.

The most recent dialogue ive had with her was when we were attached and she had a knife to her throat. I took the hit and she was kinda angry at me for being 'so stupid'.

Since then i havent heard anything from her!?!? What kinda things can change the way this story unfolds? she seems to always whinge bout my reputation being so high and having balance. so should i loss a few rep points? whats the best way to go bout this? plz, some feedback.

Anyhow, thanks for all the great posts on this forum, its made my game adventures even more rewarding. cheers

The Jaheria romance is long - very long - longer then most peoples playthrough of the game normally.
If you search the forum, you should see plenty of hints and explanations how to progress it though.
But off the top of my head, the romance is depending on real time passed as well, so just sleeping is not enough to progress the romance much.

Sleeping in the wilderness won't help you much, because a lot of the Jaheira love talks are based on real time.

Pausing the game and leaving the computer for a few hours will let real-time pass.

If the romance is really messed up and has ended I hear that the only way to get it going again is to use shadowmaster (shadowkeeper?) and reset the global settings. But I would try the other things first.

install romance fixes from Baldurs gate tweak pack, get romance walkthrough from sorcerers.net :D you still have a long way to go. slight spoiler ahead

I just got the harper pin from a certain "Terminsel" wonder who that could be :D it was a worthwhile romance nice and complex but they made it too hard certain dialogs can only be triggered in certain areas and sometimes only upon sleeping in a certain area. Dermin's second appearance took longer than it was supposed to, he was supposed to spawn out doors but instead appeared in the promenade ???? wierd

tieing in the Harper quests to the romance dialogs can make it difficult as some things may happen before there supposed to therby screwing the triggers. this delays things or makes the wrong people spawn in the wrong areas or not spawn at all

I've often thought that Bioware should have created more variables that would have prevented dialogs from occurring during combat. It also seems that at times different teams developed quests/romances in the same areas, without placing triggers conditional upon nothing else firing at the same time.

But when you have a game as large and complex to code as this one, some things get lost. I suspect it couldn't be patched after the code was finalized.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

oops i did it again......

if you go to the S of A forum and do a search on Jahiera romance, you will find a mountain of threads on this very subject. Interesting reading with some great suggestions but Ive never been able to find anything that will rekindle the romance once its gone off track ( and Ive blown it twice :( ) might be best to settle thine beating heart and just remain friends.

did you try it with a romance fix ?? seeing all those Jaheira threads I had the foresight to get a fix beforehand. my first time around and everything worked out perfectly though I did use a walkthrough some dialogs can only be triggered outdoors while sleeping with no knowlage of this beforehand you'll likely miss them

As with the Jedi, I too had prior knowledge of the Jaheira romance 'quirks'.

I didn't download any fixes (except the official ToB patch), and at some point the game was caught in a loop, reinitiating the same romance conversation over and over again at every conversation 'interval'.

But I had downloaded an excellent romance walkthrough/faq at the Sorcerer's Place website, and used the debug/CLUA commands to reset an environment variable or two, and this got the romance back on track.

If you want exact romance details as to how far along the romance path you're at, what triggers each conversation, what environment variables are used and how to change them, etc, then I recommend checking out this romance walkthrough. It's easy to find at Sorcerer's Place - Baldur's Gate 2 Tips, Tricks & Hints (1/2)

Hope it helps!
Why is it that whenever I finally get around to playing a new game for the first time,
I feel like playing Baldur's Gate for the second time...

Hmm.....maybe irrelevant (possible spoiler)

I am assuming Killingfields that since youve posted this on the TofB Forum that you are in fact this far into the game. In the eternal quest for clues into the Jahiera romance I will throw my most recent experience in to the cauldron, unsure on how it will progress. My romance dialogues with Jaheira dried up not long after surfacing from the Underdark. Rather than download fixes etc, i decided to forget about the romance and get on with the game. I am now in TofB. I recently entered the Forest of Mir and was confronted by an alleged ghost of Gorion who also summoned Khalid to give Jaheira a hard time. I stood up for her and straight after a little rest......romance dialogues started up again! Any feedback on this one fellow romancers ;) ?

Strange, did she get kindnapped by Bodhi before ?? maybe your romance just finished naturally. Jaheira remains silent after recieving the harper pin or sleeping with you. those 2 things seem to be tied together but I'm no expert on this romance :D

see this is whats wierd Jedi. In my party she is a higher level fighter than druid hence she still hasnt got the pin mid way through T of B. Weve never slept together. But, after no talkies for a large part of the whole game (except for complaints about striving to maintain balance) she is suddenly expressing concern about our future together and whether I will stay with her or choose a different path. Like I said, the romance just seems to have kicked in again, with no fixes applied and no effort on my path, since shes seen her husbands ghost  Ive never seen this mentioned in a thread anywhere!?! But Im no expert either ;) Although......shes still wearing that lovely little locket I bought her way back in the Docks District.
