Will my questions never end? (enemy weaknesses)

Post by Starion »

I kept meaning to ask this one!:

As well done as this game was (except for the idiocy of not being able to save your progress when part way through a quest of course!!! ), the devs coulda made the manual more informative! (but then even Gamebanshee missed this when they made their guide section!).

I am refering to the lack of a breakdown on the critters and other enemies in the game. I have no idea about any of the strengths or weaknesses of the various creatures or even their health levels!

A good example would be the flame augmentation. It states that it provides additional damage to enemies "who are harmed by fire", but then the player is never told which ones are NOT harmed by fire! (and I really don't wanna waste a slot (or the aug itself!) on an aug that is only effective on a small percentage of mine enemies! :(

SO- is there anywhere I can find out this info?

btw- is ANYONE else posting in this forum?

GameBanshee is a game guide site. Not a game manual or even an FAQ site. ;)

Hobbes are weak against fire, Balverines and undeads are weak against silver and the pixies are weak against the lightning augmentation. I can't remember which NPC told me about each enemy's weakness but somehow, I am still able to remember which is weak against which augmentation.

Well, there are other people who posts here as well but they don't come here regularly due to various reasons. :)

Des, thanx a lot for the weaknesses info. But does that mean that the Flame aug does'nt do additional damage to the other (non Hobbes) creatures?

And what about the human bandits? Any specific weaknesses?

I would still like to know if there is anywhere I can find a full breakdown on the creatures in the game!

Oh- what about the Piercing aug? Is it pointless against enemies who don't wear armor?

And finally- Des, I did'nt say that Gamebanshee was a game manual (or a faq site!). But in their Fable guide they pretty much did cover all the stuff that is in the manual! But, just as in the manual- they did miss the creature 411!

Some enemies and most human opponents have no elemental weakness. You will have to rely mostly on ordinary damage for this.

You could try GameFAQs. I think they should have the complete breakdown of the creatures in the game. :)

Well, piercing and sharpening augmentation will still work against enemies without armour. In fact, they're very useful compared to other elemental augmentations (like silver, flame and lightning) as it works on everyone.

Sorry. Misread your post. I don't think Gamebanshee deals with those things. It's more on the other aspects of the game.

And again, thanx Des for the Gamefaqs pointer, I'll check 'er out in a bit! (Just did~ no go on creature info though!)

Wish I knew 'bout the piercing aug usability BEFORE I went and filled the ONE slot on my steel Gsword! Now I'm gonna havta find and then pay for another steel Gsword so that I can buy the P aug in Oakvale and install it! :(

What about doubling the same aug? Would 2 (or more) of the same aug then double (or more) the added aug damage?

If I recall correctly, it should, though I have yet to try it out. I think I saw an answer to this question when I was browsing a certain thread here once a while ago. However, the augmentation slots are kind of limited (the most I've seen is 4 or 5 slots for more advanced weapons) so it is best to put in different types of augmentations just to be safe. :)

I think you got the better idea. So when I get a 4 slot weap. I think I'll go:

Penetration, Sharpening,Health, Mana

That sounds like an all around (Jack (haha) Blade of all trades!

the only ones i care about

my assumption is that the Piercing works better on Trolls and Elite Bandits, i've noticed a difference when switching to my Monster Slayer weapon (Silver and Piercing) to my Slash'em up (Piercing X2, and sharpening) so i think that is what is that
