OK, here's another one (boast question)

In the quest to save the boy in the Hobbe cave I boasted that he won't get hurt.

If he does but I heal him with the "Heal Life" spell, he then is effectively UNhurt, do I still lose on the boast?

Yes. You will still lose the boast because once that boy is hit, you will automatically lose it (a notice will appear saying that you failed the boast).
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

MAN THAT SUX! (especially since you can't get the fight started far enough away from him to ensure his safety!)

I mean it's the end result that should matter!

Tell him to wait and clear the path. slow time comes in handy too.

The problem inherent in that is twofold-

1. You can't do that when you need to pass through a door because after clearing out the area on the other side of the door and then going back through the door to get him to follow, the enemies are respawned when you go back through the door with him! :(

2. The darn creatures tend to usually send at least one of their number after him when I am engaged in a deathdance with the other dozen or so!

When I try it again I'm gonna just stand near the boy and keep blasting them with the push spell! Yup, shoulda listened to ole Ben Kenobi and "use the force, jerk!" (I hope the faq I read was right when it said that spell was an "enemy only" spell! "Friendly Fire" won't be ANY comfort a tall! )

cast slow time immediately before or upon entering the next map area. That will give you the time required to clear up the entry area. Then tell the boy to wait while you continue ahead to clear out the path. Kill the range hobbe first and don't allow any others to get past you.

Okay, I did it! I did use slow time but not the way you suggested. I just cast it immediately after the new area loaded and follwed up with my lev. 3 lightning! I just love that spell! It's like the chain lightening that I am used to from other rpgs! (it's really cool the way it self adjusts to new combatants and ones that it's killed!!!:mischief :)
