Investigating the Mayor

Post by Starion »

Okay- I am in the "Mayor's Invitation" quest, I am at the point where I have to fight Thunder (have'nt talked to him yet!).

My question is this:

If I don't go and talk to Thunder (so as to not trip the fight trigger), and instead go through the "Investigating the Mayor" quest, then get the option of marrying her at the point in that quest (Invest. the Mayor) that the walkthrough I glanced at said I would be given, and I say yes, can I then expose her later on?

Good idea, I dont know but I might try it. Or you could try it, saving before you do and let us know if it works.

If you marry Lady Grey before completing the Investigating the Mayor quest, you will not be able to expose her. That quest will end up as a dead end.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price

You mean if I say yes when she appears in the Grey House celler and gives me the choice to marry her or not, that ends the "Invest. the Mayor" quest? But the walkthrough (I just skimmed it though!) said that if I say no, she disapears from the game, so how can she be exposed if she is effectively no longer part of the story?

Unless it's after the fact???

Check Me Out On This Please!!!

(Spoiler ahead! Please highlight!)
Spoiler
Okay, I just realized that exposing Lady Grey revolves around the parchment from her sister, now, if I activate the trigger that causes me to say yes or no to her in the cellar, that either stops the quest and opens up the "marry her" sequence of events or she disappears and then I guess I expose her (even though she disappears from the gameworld according to the walkthrough!)

What I am now wondering is: Since I just happened to have gone down into the cellar already (earlier, and without activating Amanda's ghost!), and already have the parchment in my inventory, can I just continue the quest to marry her ("Mayor's Invite"), marry her, and then use the parchment to expose her in the way I would have to from the "Investigate" quest?
I ask 'cause I wanna piece of her before I send her to a 10' x 20' cell!!!:mischief: (highlight!)-

(and then there's the Demon Door of course!)

o.k...

youve confused me,so ill just tell you something about what i understood

highlight:
Spoiler
if you take the parchment while in the cellar and have not married her, youll have the option to expose her or keep it a secret and continue the quest to marry her.

as you know if you expose her she'll be removed from the game.

if your already married to her,you wont get the option to expose her in the cellar,so she'll just take it and life goes on(exept for the prisoner :D )

ps:you can ONLY open the demon door if you MARRY HER!
now some questions of my own:highlight:
Spoiler
how the hell did you get into the cellar without calling amanda!?(you can only do that in the original, unless its a hacked computer version.)

and why do you want to put her in a cell?
she looks good :p

Karnak anwers all!

OK- Here's muh answer (such as it is!:laugh :) :
(light me up hero!)-
Spoiler
"How I Got Into The Cellar W/out Summoning The Ghost" by the Lengendary Spellwarrior called Gladiator:
Chapter one: Hell if I know! When I first got to Barrow Fields I explored around, found the entrance to the "Grey House" area, went into the area, explored, found a buncha planks that glowed, clicked on 'em, WHOAH, a cellar, with an  skeleton in it!
Why put her in a cell? Are you kidding me?? (hi-lite!)-
Spoiler
The greedy evil bitch killed her older sister after all! I absolutely do not abide by the Menendez/Cain approach to inheritance reception! (That's why I killed a certain guard in Oakvale!!!)
And my game IS the pc version but it most definitely IS NOT hacked!
I could'nt even hack a sack! :o

i didn't think you could get in without using your lamp and triggering the cut scene, weird ????

And as far as Lady Gray you cant do both, i turned her down after i busted up Thunder for his helmet, great item for upping the rent in houses. But now the guy from the cell has vanished. Going to see if i can still expose the murdering wench later.

I think it's generally a bad idea. One walkthrough I read (I think it was the TLC expanded content walkthrough at Gamefaqs) said that if you do this sort of thing in the wrong order then you can actually turn off your emblem and all of the portals, effectively ruining your game.

Edit: I went and found the text for that walkthrough. Here's what that guys says (spoilers; highlight):

The NEVER DO THIS Guide.
------------------------
Unless you really like walking and have no intention of finishing all of the
available quests, you should not defeat Thunder and THEN agree to cover up the
murder and marry Lady Grey, doing so will de-activate your guild seal and all
teleport pads.
This course of action will probably wreck your game.

I hope that helps.

I read that somewhere to !!!
Spoiler----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spoiler
If you want thunders helmet and to expose lady Gray don't speak to her after you kick thunders butt, or the guy in the cell will vanish nulling the expose quest. go straight to the gray house and do it.

You can still be mare and get the silver key and the sword without marrying her, if you try to do both, you simply cant........but you can get the letter later on with no use for it..........
