Question: HLAs and Dual-Classed chars?

Post by Specterk »

Hey everyone, sorry if this has been covered somewhere else already; I searched for awhile and couldn't find anything on this topic - so here goes:
If I were to start a Thief, level him to say... 13 (for the x5 bs mult), then dual to a Mage, would I get HLAs for either class after hitting ~3mil xp (total for BOTH classes)?
EX: my character is a DC 13Thief>17Mage, xp total = (660,000) + (2,625,000) = 3285000. (My mage would have JUST leveled to 17). Would I have received any HLAs from either class upon leveling?
I saw somewhere that a multi-classed character would gain HLAs based on cumulative character xp - I'm just curious how this works for DCs. Any info would be most appreciated :) Thank you in advance.

need multi for both pools

To my knowledge you don't get thief HLA's once you dual out of that class. So mage ones are the only option for the thief -> mage. The only way out of that would be to go to level 24 thief take a HLA then dual to mage but you'd be gimped forever to get to 25 mage.

So if you want both pools you need to be multi.

Dual-classed characters only get HLAs for the second class. Multi-class characters can "cheat" and take any kind of HLA when both characters have levelled (i.e. Jan can take 2 Traps or 2 Level 10 spells when going up in both classes).

Your DC thief13/mage x starts getting mage HLAs when he reaches level 18 (3,000,000 XP) as mage. The first class doesn't count.

all my DC'd PCs have had the HLAs from the 2nd class - no UAI for you or me!
