Ive searched the forums and i have come across what you need to level up, but not any specific ways to help you efficiently level up. Does anyone recommend areas or actions you do that help you level up quickly and give you the most skill increases?
Thanks

i don't think you really want to level up fast. You want to level skills fast.
but it is different for every skill. I'll give you an example:

when there is a person around just sneak into a wall near them (make sure they don't see you) and your sneak will go up.

Why am I fighting to live, if I'm just living to fight? Why am I trying to see, when there aint nothing in sight? Why am I trying to give, when no one gives me a try? Why am I dying to live, if I'm just living to die?
It completely depends on which skills you wish to focus on. If you're after alchemy, just visit every guild hall and merchant in Cyrodil for about three times (give them a chance to restock). For combat... just fight a lot. Use daggers or small maces and not their large two-handed cousins as you'll make more hits per second and let them wear down a bit so you won't kill them too quickly. For magic it is handy to have university access to spellmaking. Make an on-target or on-self spell that consumes the least amount of magicka and cast it a lot. If I'm right you'll only need to actually hit something with on-touch spells for the skill meter to go up, so go with the other two casting types. As for block and armor skills, pick a fight with something that can't hurt you much, like a mudcrab. Don't defeat them, just let them hit you. For security, find a hard lock, pick a few tumblers, but don't finish picking it. If you stop picking the lock and have a second go at it the tumblers will be back in place, but your skill increases aren't lost. Sneak can be done in the way Mr. Arrow pointed out, as can Athletics. Acrobatics is easy, spam-jump on inclines or try falling from increasingly higher distances.
I should note that I consider this to be powergaming. I much prefer to develop my characters the natural way. Also, if you focus on a single skill you won't get as many attribute multipliers when you level up. You can get away with this at early levels, but it really becomes a problem at the higher ones. I suggest you read this guide if you wish to avoid that problem:
