Resting Lag/Error Message

Post by Crenshinibon »

Every time I try to rest, the game lags a bit (can't move the cursor or do much of anything) and then an error message pops up, saying that it can't find a certain file.

The mods I have running are:

Adamantium Armor
EBQ Artifact
Siege at Firemoth
Better Heads for Argonians
Better Bodies
Better Beasts
Werewolf Evolution
Sil's Argonian Heads
Slof's Vampire faces
CET Combatrobe v2
Louis Beauty Shop v1

The last mod I installed was Adul's Arcane Armature... it's around then when this problem started appearing. I'd think this was the module but even in games I had before I enabled it, I have the same sleeping problem.

I tried to reinstall but it had no effect... however, now I can't uninstall the game as the Uninstall Wizard can't find the MW setup file...

I've been running Adul's Arcane Armature without any problems. What file does it say is missing?

And are you using Wrye Mash toensure mod compatibility with the main game?

I don't know much about the mods you list, but if you've already tried re-installing the game I'm not sure how that will work with any mods you had installed prior to the reinstall. If you need to uninstall the game and start from scratch, you can use the instruction in the link :http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/the-elder-scrolls-iii-morrowind-29/technical-help-morrowind-not-working-82911.html

Like I said, I'm not as big a mod user as some people here, so they might be able to help you salvage something. I'm just not real sure how reinstalling the game over a prior install with mods will affect the files the mods need in order to run. That's a lot of file over writing by the time it's over with, so I posted the link just in case. ;)

I would also advise that if you do have to reinstall, to load a game and try to rest after each mod you install afterwards to see if you can narrow down which mod, if any, is causing the problem for you.

No I am not. What exactly is Wrye Mash?

Before I typed up the first post, I tried disabling all of the mods and loaded the games I had before I downloaded any of them but the problem was still there.

Here's the first message after the initial lag I get after trying to rest:

"Unable to complete operation due to failure removing previous file. Temp file remains.

Continue running executable?"

I press yes and then a second box pops up.

"Create TES failed for file autosave.ess
Save aborted.

Continue running executable?"

I press yes.

The standard x/x bar pops and fills. In the background a small square box is seen. After the bar completes, you can fully see the box and it is empty. All it has is an "Ok" button.

You can get Wrye Mash here. It has a bit of a learning curve, because it doesn't use Windows menus and popup help, but it's a very thorough and excellent tool.

As for the other mods, I don't know these:

CET Combatrobe v2
Louis Beauty Shop v1
EBQ Artifact

Siege at Firemoth has been called buggy up at the Elder Scrolls forum, before. In any case, I would certainly go through the hoops to install Wrye Mash, run it, and see what it says about your mods.
