Is it really possible to solo? I haven`t even managed without a thief. I can`t figure out how to pickpocket that guy in the Seas Bounty without a thief.
I usually have as my character a Berserker/Cleric, but even with such a powerful combination, I don`t think I could go round on my own.
And what about Imoen, do you just leave her behind?
The best I`ve managed is with a party of four (inc me).
In the Underdark I do everything. I can`t imagine doing that on my own.
So, can you really solo?

there are extensive journals of soloing with practically every character, including ****tiest ones, like the beastmaster (try searching the forum for solo beastmaster or solo Bard).

I've never tried to solo, but try a Swashbuckler 10 > mage you take care of locks, have a powerfull solo class and get -2 to AC as a bonus. Soloing is easy but I prefer a team for more options and dialog. I have no trouble envisioning soloing a mage. If it's too hard for you try the sorceror and use ease of use to get rid of all locks in the game
Did it as an Elven Fighter/Mage/Rogue, wasn't too difficult. Rather tempting to pick up some of the NPC just for their quests and then dumping them, but I managed to resist them. I do remember taking Mazzy through the Shadow Temple so she could finish her quest though, but left the Dragon until later.

I soloed it as just about every class, with the exception of a Beast Master, Skald, Jester and every type of Specialist Mage with the exception of a Conjurer.
Right now I'm doing (on hold) my no reloads game with a Wild Mage. Every class can solo, with some you just need more strategy and knowledge of the game.
As a Blade, before I ended Chapter two I was level 32, and even then I skipped over some quests.
