I had an idea... (new skins)
A few armor skins for the ladies...
Hi there:
If you read my "I had an idea" thread then you know...well, you know that I had an idea. I like the armor in Dungeon Lords but after playing the game for a while I got a little tired of it. There just isn't enough variety for my taste. Since I can't create actual new armors, (no support for player modifications) I had to re-use the old file names and simply make new textures for them.
This is the link to go and download a couple of the armor skins I made. The ones that are available are for the default skin (white) human and elf female. I am currently working on more and have almost finished a set for the Black female, so when they are available I will post about them. The Asian skin (tan) human and elf as well as the ultra pale elf female are on my to do list.
It is important to view the readme file, I have attached the text version here, and there is one included in the zipfile I made. I hope you like them. Please be kind...I think they are reasonably well done, and look nice but I am not a graphic artist, nor expert.

Oops, forgot to mention POISON made some armor skins as well:

Oh, I see my other thread was merged with this one. I know they were related but I thought I would start a new thread because I actually had skins available for download in it, which wasn't the case with this original one. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Well, I had better not start any more threads I guess...attached is some 48x 48 Dungeon Lords windows icons. Yes, I have a little time on my hands; my health is not good. Remember to always scan downloaded files for viruses. (Well, that is assuming anyone downloads them and of course these don't have any, but it is a good habit to get into.)
A sample icon is attached in jpeg form.

Platemail
I remade the silver platemail, yet again. I am almost addicted to making new clothes for this game now...I think it has something to do with never having a Barbie doll and all her costumes as a child. These particular armors will match the skintone of the default (white) skin human or elf female.
Files and screenshots available here
There are three versions available, one that looks similiar to the original (except purple), a sporty looking one and a more um...adult sexy look. (although it does not contain nudity). If anyone downloads the files, feel free to say hello in my guestbook...
*EDIT*
I just wanted to mention that inventory icons for the armor have not been altered, it will look the same as it always does when it is in your character's inventory. If you are playing multiplayer all people who play with you must have the modified armor in order to see it in their game. If you drop the armor for somebody else, it will look like ordinary platemail when they wear it unless that person's character is also a female (human or elf). View the readme file included with the download for more information.

I did something similar to the plate pants some time ago:
Edit: I've added this to a new version of my skinpack. It also includes the belt texture I forgot last time (thanks Kathy for reminding me)
Here's the link: http://www.fileden.com/files/8209/DL%20 ... ted%29.zip

A girl can't go out without her belt!
To make the top I took the bladewitch armor, made it black and longer. I took the lace up part in the back from one of the NPC dresses after tinting it black as well. The dress also has a necklace which is why she has a necklace in one of the screenies, although not this one:
The thing that annoyed me was I noticed the necklace doesn't match up from front to back and I tried moving it around but my patience wore out. It doesn't matter for the NPCs because they wear a cloak usually and just walk by so most people probably wouldn't even notice that, but for a player character that you see all the time I just wasn't happy with it. The "pants" and top part of the boots are (as I mention on my webpage) are painted over your nude pants, so I have to give credit to you, POISON, for re-using one of your textures.
I am sure everybody knows, but when armor is modified for appearence, the actual properties and armor rating is not altered.

I now have a few armors for the Black human female.
More screenshots and file available here.
I didn't do a whole bunch, but I would be happy to do a special item if anybody has a Black female character and would like to see something made for her. (providing it isn't too difficult!)

Some general information:
1.) Multiplayer: If you are using modifed armor then all players who play with you in multiplayer will need to have the same files in order for them to see you in your new armor.
You can still join games with people who don't have the modified armor, but they won't see it, they will see what they have in their Dungeon Lord's game files. For example, computer "a" has the new studded leather top in their files, and computer "b" has the original file. Each person's game is drawing from whatever files are stored on their computer. In order for "b" to see the new studded leather top, then "b" must have that particular file.
2.) View readme files included with downloads for instuctions on installing armor correctly. The correct folder must be used in order for the armor to be seen.
Readme files are good and usefull things.
3.) Inventory icons have not been changed (that would make downloading and installing items just too difficult). Any equipment in the equipment drawer will look exactly the same as it always did. Characters must equip armor in order to see changes.
4.) Only one version of an armor can be used at a time. Dungeon Lords does not allow for the creation and use of new file names, thus I have to reuse the same file names and simply change the image of what the item looks like. Detailed information about this issue is in the readme file I have included with my armor. To make things a bit easier, I included a backup folder of original files, plus a folder with all the new items. Each one is clearly labelled. You must copy and paste NEW armor items into the correct folder, and say yes when prompted to overwrite existing files. yep, I am saying overwrite files and that is why I have included a backup folder of all the original items, and request that this backup be stored in a safe location. This is also included in the readme file. (that good and useful thing )
An update of the new readme file:
*edit*
see the attached image to see what I mean about skintones. That is the studded leather top, which was originally meant to work with every skin color, because it simply did not show any skin. So when I modified it, I had to fill in the gaps of what I took out with skin. BTW, there is a studded leather top now for the Black human female, as I posted earlier.

An update of the new readme file:
I hope this clarifies any questions that folks might have. If not, please feel free to PM me.Textures for female clothing are here: C:\Program Files\Dreamcatcher\Dungeon Lords\grn_texture\pchf
It is important that these files are placed in the folder above, otherwise they will not appear in the game. PCHF stands for Player Character Human Female. Even though it says "human" all the armor will display on any female character whether she is a human or an elf. All females in the game use 99% of the same clothes, but unless the new (modified) armor is specifically made for that race, they will not match her skintone.(ie, armor for the white defualt human or elf can be equipped by a a black female, but it will look sort of funny.) This is because of the way the game is set up. Only skintoned specific armor was given different file names when created by dreamcatcher, (for example, the leather gloves are skintone specific because they show the character's fingers) non-skintone specific armor is drawn from a pool of items, with all females sharing in it.
If you commonly play multiplayer games all of the people who play with will need to have the modified files in order to see that modified armor. You will still be able to join games with people that don't have modified armor, they simply will not see it. They will see what they have installed in their Dungeon Lords folders.
Included in this folder are the new armors and a backup folder of the original files. It is important that you put the backups in a safe place, such as in your documents folder. This is in case you get tired of the new armor and decide to go back to the original ones, but also to be safe. Safe is good, right? It wouldn't hurt to have a backup of your saved game either. Textures are in windows bitmap form, so I was able to create new ones using a few different image editors. I have kept the same file names, format and size, so it will not harm your game to use them. You are only substituting graphics files.
Place the unzipped folder in a safe place such as your documents folder. Do not change anything about the files, the names and filetype are exactly what they need to be. Copy and paste the new armors into the pchf folder.
YOU MUST SELECT ARMOR FROM THE NEW ARMOR FOLDER, DO NOT USE ITEMS FROM THE ORIGINAL FILE BACKUP FOLDER. (That is only a backup of original files. If you use them you will be installing the exact same thing that you already have.)
You will be prompted about replacing the file(s), say "yes" to all.
To remove the modified armor, copy and paste the original files from the backup folder into the pchf folder, again saying "yes" when prompted.

Well, here I go again. If you think the default underwear for female characters is ugly but you don't want your character to be nude, here is the answer. Yes, I made new underwear... (seriously, that nasty brown looking underwear... ick) Ok, well maybe I am the only one who even noticed it was ugly or cared, but at any rate, downloads and screenshots are here.

Oh yes, manicured hands are also in the same files as well as pedicured feet. Human female gets rid of those silly looking sandals she was wearing.

I will continue to work on different armors to match the different skintones and races in the game. As they are made, they will be uploaded to my website. If anyone is interested in them the links to my site work, and there is a menubar on the side of each page, showing links to other pages in the site.
I doubt that I will be posting anymore in either this thread or the GameBanshee forum as a whole, but I will check in to read PMs, so if there is a question regarding the armor someone needs answering, I will be availabe to answer it.
Take care,
Kathy

Installation tutorial
The readme file included with my armor downloads gives instuctions, but I received a request for help via PM. I decided to go with the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words and made a step by step picture tutorial. I hope this clarifies things. Some of the text looks a little blurry in the pictures so I will simply say underneath the image here what is in the picture.
This shows the new armor folder. That is the folder I am going to use.
This shows thumbnails, and then says to minimize the folder.
Now I am going to leave the pchf folder open, but also return to my new armor folder. Now that I am back at my new armor folder, I am going to click on edit and choose select all
After selecting all, I am going to copy the items.
Now I am going to paste them into the pchf folder
I am being prompted about replacing files, and I will need to say yes to all. This overwrites the files that are in there all ready with the new ones.
I also discuss the backup folder of original files I include with every download of modified new armor. Please be sure to keep the backup folder in a safe place but remember not to install it. You will only need to do that if you want to replace the new modified armor.
*edit* I am currently working on skins for the asian and fathien (very pale) elves.

I noticed a couple of things about the back of the Ninja armor that I didn't like. Rather than make a zipfile I figured I would just upload the shirt to my photobucket account. If anybody would like the updated file it is here.

I attempted to login to my freewebs account to update some files and it appears the site has been damaged (the global login for all freewebs members). Yippee... At any rate, I uploaded all of the armor I made thus far for the default skin and black females, plus my guy armor to a filehost. Downloads should go faster. (assuming anybody is downloading the stuff. )
Screenshots of some armor for males. I only changed the starting outfit, the studded leather and platemail for the human male (the elf male will wear the same studded leather and platemail as the human male does). I also added in smiley face boxer shorts for all the human males, and torsos with tattoos on them. They are included in the same download, but in seperate folders, so if you don't want those, just ignore those folders. I also made studded leather and samurai armor for the dwarf.
