I've heard lots of good points, but i have been against guns in med-evil type times since seeing it on Warcraft. I don't like seeing or using guns in that sort of time. I have never used a gun in World Of Warcraft and i gotta say nothing will change my mind.
It's not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you.
I thought that Fable 2 is no longer set in the medieval ages? Wasn't the setting supposed to be 500 years after the events of Fable: The Lost Chapters? By that time, it would have been the Renaissance era already (guns will surely be in existence by then).marten0305 wrote:I've heard lots of good points, but i have been against guns in med-evil type times since seeing it on Warcraft.

No offense but it's called Fable for a reason. It's about monsters, magic, swords, etc... Typicly when i think of fable, i think of back in those horse riding, sword fighting, bow shooting, etc... The last thing on my mind is guns. I know theirs guns already so i shouldn't fight it, but guns in this type of game just bugs me.
P.S. The bows better have something over guns like in WOW.

Scopes did exist back in the colonial times but not the way modern ones are produced with lenses. The old scopes were (simply put) a pipe with a cross in it.Mandalorianx wrote:scopes? is'nt that to early, i mean they just got the gun, dont think they hade the scopes at that time.
but just an idea(a stupid one ) they could add like small glasses on the gun.
Anyway my thoughts on guns is making pistols a short ranged but very powerful (200 damage?) and have reload time of 10-15 sec. If they implement rifles too they should have a range a bit shorter than the bow but dealing more damage (maybe 300 damage) and having a longer reload time (a bit longer than pistol)but to balance it a bit rifles should have a skill requirement maybe 4 accuracy (if they use the old skill system).

Unless very begining guns.. Like the muskets and stuff.. But still... I dont know.. Lol guns... I really wouldnt want them. But.. I guess we could try them.. Black powder pistols wouldnt be that bad i guess.. I dont know.. Or why dont they just make better arrows?? Like fire arrows... or.. Impact arrows.. Which explode on impact. or something.. Guns aren't supposed to be in (MMO) RPGs. Like in Fable 1 + TLC you couldn't wait till you got ebony bow and wanted master bow and finally the skorm's bow. What with a gun -.- . ''I can't wait till I fet the red gun with spikes on it". It isn't good for RPGs because there only is one kind of gun ( and for the smartasses I mean in the time with castles and stuff not now with Ak-47 M16 blablabla..)
Well, there are different types of guns with different designs (provided that they're single shot ones) that exists at Fable 2's time period. They could go for gun range and damage. Better guns have better damage and longer range for example.MsO Moonlight wrote:Guns aren't supposed to be in (MMO) RPGs. I kind of agree here. I find that the reloading speed at that demonstration trailer at GDC '07 was too fast. Almost like that of a single-action rifle used in World War 2 (Enfield rifles).Gifford wrote: it would be good if the guns were sort of like fable 1 crossbows, so they aren't too fast but really powerful.

Guns are a no-no. I mean guns are the reason people stopped wearing armor in our world. And I for one enjoy being an armored hack and slasher in fable. People like playing games with guns, so do I, but I play normal shooting games for that. I don't try to mix guns into my medieval type games.
If the events in fable 2 are really 500 years after the first fable game, then I can accept the fact that there are guns in it. But, I should expect the entire game world to be different by that time as well.

I thought people wear bullet-proof armour as a result of guns (in real life)? I respect your opinion but I still don't understand how armours become useless after the introduction of guns. Could you elaborate a bit more, please?Caden wrote:Guns are a no-no. I mean guns are the reason people stopped wearing armor in our world. We wear kevlar vests, which protect against some bullets some of the time. We stopped wearing armor when guns were created, because bullets pierce armor. That is the reason you don't see soldiers now days with armor covering their entire body or shields to block bullets, it is because anything durable enough to block bullets would turn the soldier into a paper weight. That and we can always create stronger guns or use bigger/more-dense bullets if armor were suddenly strong enough to block the bullets.
Edit: Good examples:
If you're american, you should have no trouble picturing soldiers from the civil war. They were wearing no armor, whatsoever. Kevlar vests hadn't been invented then and any armor they could've worn would've been pierced by bullets.
If you're european, perhaps you can picture a 16th century fencer who focused on speed and light weight swords instead of wearing heavy armor and powerful swords that can cut through it. This is because armor became in disfavor by this time. Guns had something to do with it. At least, that is my understanding of it.

Hmm, good points you brought up there. Flexibility and mobility could also have played a vital role as to why heavy armours and weapons were no longer in use. By that time period, the armour suit consist of a helmet, torso, arm piece and leggings only and it didn't cover the whole body. Not to mention how light they became by then.

You know even though this is really a different type of game in every aspect the Final Fantasy series managed to incorporate swords and guns (allbeit the swords were futuristic) but my point is It's possible to incorporate guns with the original weapon types and not throwing off the feel of the game just as long as the guns match the time period and are not cumbersome and a challenge to use but I really have to play it to see how is worked into the game
